The Best Four Days In Gaming Never Looked Better
INDIANAPOLIS (April 7, 2009) Gen Con is pleased to announce that true to tradition, Wizards of the Coast will again be a Co-Sponsor of the largest hobby gaming convention in North America. Fans come from around the world to attend Gen Con Indy and Wizards of the Coast is an integral part of the industry and that experience. This year Wizards of the Coast will be debuting new products, showcasing classics as well as hosting many popular tournaments thousands of fans have come to enjoy.

This year, Wizards will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Dragonlance® with a new book from Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman entitled Dragons of the Hourglass Mage, The Lost Chronicles Volume 3. Margaret and Tracy will be on site for autographs and a special anniversary party. Wizards will also be celebrating the newly released D&D® 4th Edition Monster Manual® 2 and Players Handbook® 2 as well as other 4th Edition accessories.
Also, a limited number of Magic: The Gathering® From the Vault: Exiled™ will be available for purchase prior to the August 28th release. The release contains fifteen Magic: The Gathering cards so potent, they were banned or restricted from the known realms of competition. Only 100 copies will be available each day at Gen Con. In addition, there will be plenty of D&D and Magic™ game play in the Sagamore Ballroom and Hall F, respectively. A full schedule of seminars and special guests are also planned.

Celebrating its 42nd year and going strong, Gen Con is no ordinary convention. Attendees do everything from browsing the aisles of the exhibit hall packed with over 250 booths to taking part in any number of the 5,500 gaming events happening 24 hours a day over the four days. Gaming activities range from interactive game play to video/computer gaming and from classic board games to big money hobby-related tournament. There is something for everyone at Gen Con.

Gen Con Indy will be open to the public Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16 at the Indiana Convention Center. Thursday through Saturday the exhibit hall is open 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. 24 hour gaming takes place at the convention center and at area hotels during the four day event.
Attendees must purchase badges to gain entrance to the show. Badge pre-registration is open and runs through June 28, 2009, noon PST. Pre-registration will only be available online through the registration system. A four-day badge is $68 with pre-registration or $78 onsite. A 1-day badge is $48 with pre-registration or $48 onsite. The VIG (Very Important Gamer package) is only available online with pre-registration for $500. Children 8 and under are free with an accompanying adult.
