Honda CR-V 2010 gets a facelift?

crvIt looks like a different kind of CR-V was photographed outside a restaurant in Dublin Ohio. Apart from the different front part of the car which includes chrome grill and wider parts, a set of different alloy wheels was noted; however the photo taken cannot give as a clear view.

This could be a 2010 facelift model of the CR-V, considering that it was parked not far away from Honda’s Marysville plant.

Euro NCAP gives five stars on safety to Honda Jazz

03The Honda Jazz has been awarded the maximum 5-star rating which follows on from the five star results achieved by both, Honda Civic and Honda Accord. The new rating scheme, which was introduced in February 2009, uses a weighted score, combining many aspects of a car’s safety performance for adult (50%), child (20%) and pedestrian (20%) protection assessment results with the availability of safety assistance devices (10%). To qualify for inclusion, safety assistance devices (VSA for Honda) must be fitted as standard across 85% of the EU 27 2009 model range. Euro NCAP’s new assessment reflects Honda’s commitment to overall vehicle safety, complimenting Honda’s long standing in-house safety testing which seeks to improve real world safety.

Honda Jazz sales reach half a million units in Europe

Since 2002, the Honda Jazz has sold 500,000 units in Europe. A small size car with so many large interior spaces, that made it very popular. In 2008, the launch of the all-new Jazz managed to maintain the personality of the car. Honda Motor Europe, Senior Vice President, Ken Keir said that: “The Jazz really changed things in the B-segment when it arrived in 2002. People are still amazed by just how much space there is inside both for passengers and luggage. We are thrilled to sell half a million cars and we are looking forward to continuing this success when we begin production of the Jazz at the Honda UK Manufacturing plant in September.”

Latest reports claim that a hybrid Jazz model might be available for sale at the end of 2010. We can predict that this will be a hit seller!

It is not certain if this four door coupe will be equipped with the 3.7 liter V6 engine, but you never know if this car will ever exist as well; only time will tell.

Helio Castroneves becomes a three-time Indy Champion

Castroneves gets another win in the Indy Championship and this time is pure joy for him as he is now entered in the rank of the three-time Indy Champions. Talk about Honda reliably it’s really worth saying that for the fourth consecutive season, Honda powered the entire 33-car Indianapolis 500 starting field, and for a record-extending fourth consecutive year — and the only four times in Indy 500 history — there was not a single engine failure. Castroneves surely feels blessed after this win that puts him on top.

Honda UK workers vote for a pay cut to save their jobs

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00710/Honda_682_710826a.jpgUK Honda workers vote a decrease on their wages, rather than loosing their jobs. With a drop of 50% in production of UK’s car industry, some factories are shutting down while others are running over the edge. Honda has given a choice to its workers to take a pay cut; otherwise 490 employees will be off. Workers voted for a 3% drop in wages and the management gets also a 5% reduction. It’s a hard decision to make, but also a good solution to keep the workers on the job with an additional six days of leave. It is certainly better than having no job at all.

Honda’s Safe Driving Educational Software

04Honda has combined new educational software for safe driving together with a retail personal computer and accessories. The Honda Safety Navi, as it called, will provide an easy to use automobile driving simulator. The package can be sold separately and you can obtain just the software if you don’t want to get the complete hardware required. This is not the first time that Honda develops such a software. It was back in 2001 when driving simulators were sold by Honda to driving schools.

S2K Challenge Series: 6th race at Willow Springs International Motorsports Park

user posted imageArticle by Edward Lee (600rr_rocket)

We have now passed the halfway mark in the exciting 2009 S2K Challenge Series. The sixth S2K Challenge event was held on 5/10/09 at Streets of Willow track in the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park. This time around, we ran the clockwise configuration; back in 3/6/09 (S2K Challenge #3), we ran counter-clockwise. Hard to argue which configuration is more “fun”; it’s like running on two completely different tracks. Budweiser or Coors?

From a lap time perspective, historical data shows us that CCW is approximately 0.5-1sec faster than CW, given similar weather/conditions. Speaking of weather, the 3/6/09 was cold and windy with the low in the morning at 34F and a high of 57F. Today’s weather could not be more contrasting: the high was 93F and track temps far exceeded 100F.
