Defenders - Second Vote
D&D Championship Series

Loraen, Mage Guardian of Corellon.Controller Poll Winner
Loraen, Mage Guardian of Corellon: 41.4%
Kitana, Blood Mage Initiate: 39.4%
Carina of House Corrundi: 19.2%

Male Eladrin Wizard 9 (Control Wizard)
Str 13, Con 10, Dex 10, Int 20, Wis 18, Cha 11
The life of a Mage Guardian isn’t easy. But discipline and faith in Corellon has allowed Loraen to excel at his duties. His training as a cleric mixed with his wizardly powers make him a versatile and valued ally. He is classically trained in the arts of a warmage, flaying his enemies with elemental fury. He is not averse to wading though the battlefield, wielding both his longsword and orb of imposition to smite foes, but he is most effective keeping his enemies at a distance and supporting his allies. Though his Eladrin mannerisms and habits might sometimes be inscrutable to his allies, his powerful magic garner him respect from all.

Villagers with pitch forks are calling for a revote. A coding error prevented us from processing the results for last week's defenders poll. So vote again! Pick your favorite defender. The top two contenders join the adventuring party.

Each week, we are presenting you with choices for a specific role on the team. Choose the one you like; the winners of the poll make the cut and join the party. The current poll closes on Sunday, July 27 at noon PST. The next day, we’ll present you with the winner, and give you the final team of characters. On Friday, August 1st, we’ll present you with the character sheets for all the characters, so you’ll be able to study up on their strengths and figure out how to shore up their weaknesses.

For this week, you’ll choose your front-line anchor, the defender. There will be 2 defenders in the party, so the top 2 vote-getters will make it in. Read the descriptions and cast your vote!

Diesa, Bounty Hunter

Female Dwarf Paladin 9 (Avenging Paladin)
Str 18, Con 16, Dex 10, Int 8, Wis 18, Cha 12
Diesa is currently attached to an isolated temple of Moradin, high in the mountains west of Aeris. She spends most of her time in the wilds though, either hunting wild game for the temple kitchens or tracking down evildoers that have escaped justice. She considers criminals to be nothing better than animals and her superiors have had to discipline her more than once for her rough treatment of them. Her abrasive personality assures that she is constantly sent out on missions outside the temple grounds. Constantly pointing out when people are wrong is something she is trying to curtail (without much success). With wisdom beyond her years and the strength with which she wields her dwarven hammer, she is a very capable combatant. Her single-minded pursuit of any quarry is a tool she uses to bring down her foes. It is a skill learned at the side of elven rangers from the northern forests.

Skin

Male Half-Elf Fighter 9 (Great Weapon Fighter)
Str 18, Con 14, Dex 18, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 10
Skin doesn’t ever reveal his true name. He used to just be called “boy” until he grew older and became more widely known for one of his unpleasant habits - skinning the hide of rats and other animals that he has caught and eaten, and wearing their hides. His mother was a streetwalker who died when he was six years old. Since then, he has lived on the rough streets of the capital city of Aeris, Aerithmas. Now much older, he has fallen in with a very rough crowd, acting as a bruiser for a gang of thieves. He wields dual short swords in combat, and is skilled in fighting off groups of enemies. He has also picked up a few dirty tricks from his unsavory friends. He is thinking of leaving the city for a while, probably after the next heist. At least, that is Bones’ advice to him. Bones is the polished skull of an elven male that he keeps with him at all times. He often talks to it for company, though nobody else can seem to hear the skull responding. Skin never answers people’s inquiries regarding his father’s whereabouts.

Kiva

Female Dragonborn Fighter 9 (Great Weapon Fighter)
Str 22, Con 15, Dex 8, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 12
Kiva is young and not quite sure of her place in the world. She has left her family’s circle and is now exploring the kingdom on her own as a wandering mercenary. She keeps mostly to herself, not wishing to offend others over cultural differences. She is always striving to better herself, seeking to know as much about the world and herself before she ends her time of Scattering and returns home to her family. The fine scarlet plate armor she wears perfectly complements the golden-rose hue of her own scales. It is carved and enameled with intricate designs of dragonborn life. Its exquisite beauty is rarely appreciated by her enemies however, for they are often more concerned with the wearer’s brutal strength brought to bear upon them through her serrated falchion.

Fizzik, Defender of the Deep Forest

Male Gnome Paladin 9 (Protecting Paladin)
Str 13, Con 10, Dex 8, Int 18, Wis 14, Cha 20
“Leave the forests and seek the dragon that shall save us.” That was written on his arm when he regained consciousness after the feast of high summer. It was his handwriting. It’s definitely a reminder of a prophetic vision. Probably. Either that or a hallucination brought on by too much pixie wine. A prophecy is too risky to ignore though, so Fizzik left the fey court of the deep forests to find his brother, who is more familiar with the outside world. That was several months ago. His brother, known as Fraansis in human lands, has gone missing, and Fizzik is running out of ideas of where to find him. Fizzik’s appearance is hardly one to inspire confidence in his martial abilities. His short, lanky frame is protected by embroidered green leather armor and a turtle shell used as a shield. However, his shortsword channels the faith he has in the cause of the fey court, and he uses his race’s tricks to protect himself as well as confuse and befuddle his opponents. On the battlefield, he is easily the equal of any human knight, something that the fomorians of the feywild have discovered, to their regret.

Reynard the Innkeeper

Male Human Fighter 9 (Guardian Fighter)
Str 20, Con 16, Dex 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 11
Reynard, or Nard as most of his friends call him, was a successful adventurer before retiring to the life of an innkeeper in a quiet mountain town. Though he is famous for the orcish grog that he brews, he is finding that he makes a poor innkeeper. He is barely making ends meet and longs for the days of independence he experienced as an adventurer. The patrons at his inn have accustomed themselves to listening to his complaints as they sip his grog. Nard is quick to regale people about how things were done back in his day, when adventurers didn’t have much magic and made do with what little they had. He still keeps his armor, shield and longsword well oiled and displayed in a place of pride in his inn. He often keeps in shape by running drills and teaching the local militia a weapon trick or two. Everyone in the village though knows that he is just looking for any excuse to sell his inn and go wandering around the world again, killing monsters and taking their stuff.
