Spiral Stairs: "Maltese Terrier"
Ex-Pavement dude Scott Kannberg has moved on from teasing us about a possible reunion of his legendary band, and is finally releasing his first album as Spiral Stairs. We've got the first track, "Maltese Terrier" from the upcoming LP, which is going to be called The Real Feel, and drops October 20 via Matador.

Sally Shapiro: "Miracle (Bogdan Irkük Remix)"
Sally Shapiro is back in action, prepping her sophomore LP, My Guilty Pleasure, for release later this year. We've already heard first single "Miracle", and now the track has a remix from Bogdan Irkük that lifts Johan Agebjörn's Italo snyths and Moroder bassline up above Sally's chilling vocals.

jj: "From Africa to Málaga"
Here's a new track from cryptic Sincerely Yours signees jj, the guys behind "My Life, My Swag" and "My Swag, My Life". "From Africa to Málaga" is yet another light Balearic summery jam, and would make a nice soundtrack to chilling by a cold swimming pool. Boy, doesn't that sound nice on a day like this.

Antony and the Johnsons: Various Songs (Live at Holland Festival)
Antony and the Johnsons performed with Amsterdam's Metropolitan Orchestra at the Holland Festival recently, imbuing his new material from The Crying Light with a heavy, romantic backdrop of symphonic arrangements. He also premiered a new song, a collaboration with Nico Muhly. To hear the hour-long set, follow the link below and, next to Antony's face, click the button that says "bekijk uitzending" (Dutch for "get ready to cry").

Zomby : "Mercury's Rainbow"
The new video for Zomby's "Mercury's Rainbow", from last year's Where Were U in '92?, features a familiar clip: Dave's journey beyond the infinite from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Somehow, Zomby's beeps, blips, and butchered beats form an even creepier soundtrack than Ligeti's for the trippy slit-scan photo effects.

Sonic Youth: "No Way" (Live on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon")
Sonic Youth continue their late-night TV appearances in support of new Matador LP The Eternal, this time performing album cut "No Way" for Jimmy Fallon.

Basement Jaxx: "Raindrops" (Various remixes)
Basement Jaxx have posted some new remixes of "Raindrops", which is on sale as a single right now. Check out their nifty remix widget below, with versions by Robbie Riviera, Joker and Jens, AN21 and Philip Jensen, and Under New Management, as well as the radio edit of the original track.

His Clancyness: "So Bored" (Wavves cover)
Don't have much info on this artist calling himself His Clancyness, but he's contributing a track to the inaugural release of the We Were Never Being Boring label, and it's a cover of Wavves' summer jam "So Bored". This chilled-out version dunks the surf-punk original underwater, emerging with a more Surfer Rosa-tinted shoegazer.

Franz Ferdinand: "No You Girls"
A song we've heard a lot of this year gets a second music video. There's a lot of goofing around and video screens multiplying like nesting dolls.

Bat For Lashes: "Sleep Alone" (Live on KCRW)
Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, donned her Veronica Lodge dress in the KCRW studios for a performance of Two Suns' haunting "Sleep Alone". Click on the video to play.

La Roux: "Bulletproof (Lagos Boys Choir Remix)"
Here's a new remix of La Roux's terrific new single, "Bulletproof", wherein Lagos Boys Choir unpack the original's blippy production and unfurl it into a sprawling, garagey dancefloor banger. The "Bulletproof" single is out now via Polydor/Kitsuné, but this remix you won't be able to find anywhere else.

God Help the Girl: God Help the Girl
Surely you've heard about God Help the Girl? We've already spoken to Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch about his new musical theatre/sountrack project, heard three different tracks, seen two videos, and checked out the GHTG subscription series. Well, now true fans will have to wait no longer to hear the complete project, as Matador is offering a stream of the full album a week ahead of its release.

Air France: "GBG Belongs to Us"
Air France just tipped us off to a new song they've recorded, a tribute to their hometown Gothenburg, called "GBG Belongs to Us" (likely a reference to Saint Etienne's "London Belongs to Me", a track from today's Best New Music'ed Foxbase Alpha). They've even recorded a little "teaser" video for the tune, which can be found at the "Part III" link below. Follow "Part II" for a .zip file with the track. ("Part I" seems to be a very detailed travel guide, in case you were thinking about visiting Sweden!)

Modest Mouse: "Whale Song"
Modest Mouse are releasing their second 7" single in as many months, following up the post-Record Store Day offering "Satellite Skin"/"Guilty Cocker Spaniels" with a long-awaited recording of live staple "Whale Song" b/w "Autumn Beds". The B-side was reviewed today, but now Tripwire has a stream of "Whale Song", and boy, is it as massive and epic as the titular sea mammal.

Phoenix: "1901" (Live on "Late Show With David Letterman")
French rockers Phoenix stopped by the Ed Sullivan Studios last night, zipping through one of this year's best singles, "1901" from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

The Dead Weather: "Hang You From the Heavens" (Live on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien)
The Dead Weather, Jack White's new band with Kills singer Alison Mosshart, stopped by "The Tonight Show" last night to perform "Hang You From the Heavens", the heavy-hitting single from the forthcoming Horehound. Mosshart delivers a strong vocal, but it's still just a little weird seeing Jack hiding behind the kits back there.

Dinosaur Jr.: Farm
As you may have heard, Dinosaur Jr. have a new album coming out next week. We've chatted with the artist behind the trippy album artwork, interviewed the director of their recent video for "Over It", and now, a week ahead of its release, you can stream the full album over at the band's MySpace.

Japandroids: "Crazy/Forever" and "Heart Sweats" (Live on KEXP)

-
Jay-Z, Wallpaper.: "D.O.A./ 99 Problems (Wallpaper. Remix)"
This Wallpaper. dude knows a good internet meme when he sees one. The producer who took "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Hell" to heights unimagined earlier this year has turned his attention to Jay-Z's recent screed "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)", pitch-shifting Jigga's vocals in a way in which he would not approve (actually he probably would, since he's got a good sense of humor, but it's more fun to imagine him getting pissed). He also mashes it up with "99 Problems", except in this case it's "pitch" that ain't one. Don't you wish you'd thought of that? Stream below, you can nab the mp3 here.

Broken Social Scene, Feist: Various Songs (Live in Toronto)
Leslie Feist made a little cameo yesterday at a surprise gig Broken Social Scene played in their hometown, Toronto. Feist joined the crew for "New Country" and then this ripping new instrumental was captured.

St. Vincent: Various Songs (acoustic; live on Lake Fever Sessions)
"I don't even think I own an acoustic guitar," begins St. Vincent's Annie Clark as she introduces the first of these clips, in which she performs a few songs from this year's excellent Actor, on, well, an acoustic guitar. The video was shot for the Nashville-based web show Lake Fever Sessions, in which a local recording studio invites "some of our favorite artists into the studio for the better part of an afternoon and have them perform a few numbers." "The Strangers" and "Oh My God" round out the set.

Fever Ray: "Triangle Walks"
Yesterday we heard a decent remix of "Triangle Walks" by Rex the Dog, and now the track has its own video, directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson, frequent Knife collaborator Andreas Nilsson a characteristically dark affair with only the light of a few flickering, possessed lamps to illuminate Karin's painted face. "Triangle Walks" single is out next week via Mute.

-
Black Moth Super Rainbow: "Twin of Myself (The Go! Team Remix)"
The Go! Team work their remix magic on Black Moth Super Rainbow's "Twin of Myself", from this year's Eating Us, reconfiguring the track's shimmering chimes and Dave Fridmann distorto-drums, and pairing them with their trademark bells and whistles.

David Lynch, Fox Bat Strategy: "Shoot the Works"

Fox Bat Strategy: A Tribute to Dave Jaurequi is a seven-track album featuring lyrics by Lynch due out June 30 via Rykodisc and David Lynch Music Company. Take a listen to the sparse, eerie ballad "Shoot the Works" at EW's website.

Fever Ray: "Triangle Walks (Rex the Dog Radio Edit)"
Rex the Dog's remix of Fever Ray's "Triangle Walks", a standout track from this year's self-titled LP, is pretty faithful to the original, supplementing the track's rhythm for some heavier beats and a few knob-twisting turns, but preserving the stuttering production and, of course, Karin's dark vocals.

Gossip: "Heavy Cross"
The Gossip are back, and their latest track, "Heavy Cross", which we reviewed recently, now has a video with a throwback glam theme. Not quite as viciously ironic as their other recent Music for Men promo, but that would be asking a lot.

The Knife: "Colouring Pigeons" (from Tomorrow, in a Year)
Remember when we told you that the Knife would be scoring an opera, inspired by Charles Darwin, to premiere in Copenhagen on September 2? Well, we weren't kidding, and now there's proof: you can hear a (too brief) sample of "Colouring Pigeons", ostensibly a piece from the larger work, Tomorrow, in a Year. As you might expect, it sounds like a disembodied Knife song, a female's vowel-only vocals ping-ponging over some tribal drums and spooky snyths.

Friday Bridge: "This Case Is Closed (Johan Agebjörn Remix)"
Here's a new remix from Sally Shapiro's producer, Johan Agebjörn, of a track from Swedish electro-pop duo Friday Bridge. Agebjörn's trademark sparkly synths and Moroder-esque bassline form a billowy disco bed for Ylva Lindberg's airy vocals. A nice jam to kick off your weekend dance party. The Bite My Tongue LP is out now via the But Is It Art? label.

Bat For Lashes: "Daniel (Tara Busch's AnalogSuicide Mix)"
We can still hardly get enough of Bat For Lashes' awesome single, "Daniel", which is lucky, since EMI is offering a free download (name and email address required) of a new remix by Tara Busch, which reconfigures the tune into a stormy, mechanized collage, while still managing to maintain the original's haunting mood.

Grand Archives: "Silver Among the Gold"
Seattle's Grand Archives are readying their sophomore LP, Keep in Mind Frankenstein, for release on Sub Pop on September 15. Judging from this first track, "Silver Among the Gold", the follow-up to last year's self-titled debut will continue the tradition of sun-soaked Americana.
