BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Former Miss Montana Jennifer Lynn Hepner pleaded guilty to negligent endangerment after being charged with driving under the influence earlier this year.

Hepner entered her plea Wednesday in exchange for having the more serious DUI charge dropped.

The 24-year-old University of Montana graduate student was pulled over Jan. 3 after an officer saw her driving without headlights at about 2:30 a.m. Police say she refused to submit to alcohol screening, breath or blood tests.

Hepner was allowed to participate in the Miss America pageant Jan. 24, but her Miss Montana duties were suspended Feb. 16.

Hepner was ordered to pay $1,085 in fines but $200 of that was suspended. A judge also ordered her to attend a victim's impact panel.
