  4. He also calculated tropical year with amazing accuracy 365.24219858156 correct to 6th decimal. Can any astronomers tell me how he did it?
  5. Illustrated his geometric solution to cubic as intersection of quadratic and circle using kids hoop + skipping rope in New College gardens.
  6. Did an interview for BBC Persia for a TV programme their making on Omar Khayyam. As well as beautiful poetry he also did great maths.

  10. Recorded the comm for my BBC Horizon on consciousness today. End of a long and fascinating journey. Now just got to wait for the broadcast.
  11. Back from China trek. Highlight: visiting Jiuzhaigou National Park, Sichuan. Low point: getting altitude sickness in Langmusi at 3800 m.
