PacWest Center (officially KeyBank Tower at PacWest Center) is a 29-story office building in Portland, Oregon. At 418 Feet (127 Meters), it is the fourth-tallest building in Portland.
The building was completed in 1984 by Hugh Stubbins & Associates of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its name comes from the fact that its major tenant originally was Pacific Western Bank of Oregon, owned by PacWest Bancorp., but PacWest's Oregon operations were acquired by KeyCorp. in 1986[2] and became part of KeyBank.
Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Estate Co. had been the majority owner in the building since it rose in 1984.[3] In December 2007 the building sold for $161.5 million.[4]
The modern, metallic look of the building is due to the use of aluminum panels imported from Japan. The streamlined, chrome look of the building has led some to refer to the tower as "The Ice Cube Building".
