Buying a Gift Card:

Using Your Gift Card (Gift Certificate):

What is an Amazon gift card?

Amazon.com gift cards can be used to buy almost any item sold on Amazon.com and our affiliate website Endless.com. You can buy gift cards for any amount between $5.00 and $5,000.00, and print your gift cards from home or send them by e-mail or physical mail anywhere in the world. If you've received a gift card and enter the claim code on an order or in Your Account at Amazon.com, we'll keep the balance in Your Account for use on future purchases.

Can I choose my gift card design?

Certainly. When you place an order from our gift cards page, we'll present you with a selection of available designs. During the purchase process, you can choose the occasion and design. When you find one you like, click the "Select" button and resume placing your order.

Note: You must have JavaScript installed and enabled on your web browser to see available design options.

How do I order a gift card?

Amazon.com offers you multiple ordering options and gift card types so you can choose the one that's best for you.

Ordering Customized Gift Cards

  1. Visit our Gift Cards page.
  2. Click the Buy now button for the type of gift card you want to purchase (e-mail, print at home, or paper gift card via mail).
  3. Choose a design and enter the desired gift card amount, a personalized message, and delivery information if requested.
  4. Click the Add to order button. The gift card will be added to the "Gift Card Order" box at the top right of the gift card ordering page. (You might need to scroll up or to the right to see it, depending on your screen size.) Note: The gift card is not added to your normal Amazon shopping cart.

  5. If you'd like to order another gift card before checking out, complete the order form again and click the Add to order button. When you're finished adding gift cards to your order, click the Proceed to Checkout button in the Gift Card Order box, at the top right-hand side of the gift card ordering page.

  7. Provide payment information for your purchase and click the Continue button.

  8. Review your order and click the Place your order button to complete your purchase.

You can order up to 400 gift cards at a time. To learn more about ordering in bulk, see Ordering Multiple Gift Cards.

Ordering Pre-denominated Gift Cards

If you'd like to purchase an Amazon gift card while shopping for other items, you can now add gift cards of selected dollar values to your Shopping Cart. Simply search for "Amazon Gift Card" in the Search field at the top of any Amazon.com page, click on the gift card offer you'd like to buy, and click the Add to Shopping Cart button.

You can buy gift cards in amounts ranging from $15 to $500 through the Shopping Cart. To see the options available, start here and choose the dollar amount you'd like from the drop-down menu.

  • Paying for gift cards in your Shopping Cart: As with other gift card purchase options on Amazon.com, you cannot use Amazon gift cards to purchase new gift cards. When a gift card is in your Shopping Cart along with other items you wish to buy, any existing gift card balance on Your Account will only be applied to the purchase of eligible items and not to the gift card.

You will need to provide a credit card, debit card, or other valid payment method to pay for the order if you have gift cards in your shopping cart. If you have trouble applying a gift card balance to an order, please try removing the gift cards you wish to buy from the order and purchase them separately with a valid payment method.

  • Available shipping options: When you order gift cards through the shopping cart, Standard Shipping is free. You can view the other available shipping options at our Shipping Rates and Times Help pages.

We'll send you a confirmation e-mail after you place your order.

When will the gift card arrive?

  • E-mail gift cards: These generally arrive within 15 minutes of being ordered if you choose "Now" as the delivery date. (Keep in mind that, on rare occasions, the process can take up to 24 hours if a manual review is required, as sometimes happens when customers use a new credit card.) If you wish, you can also specify a delivery date up to 1 year in advance of the purchase date. Note: You'll be charged 1-2 days before your e-mail gift card is delivered if you schedule a future delivery date. We'll send you an e-mail reminder when the delivery date nears.

  • Print at Home gift cards: You can print your Amazon.com gift card from the confirmation e-mail you receive or from the order summary in Your Account. Visiting the link in the e-mail will pull up your gift card for printing. If you visit Your Account to print, we'll display a Print gift card(s) button when your gift card is ready and you'll need to verify the credit card you used for the purchase. Printable gift cards are usually available to print within 15 minutes of order.

  • Paper gift cards: Arrive in the mail 5 to 7 business days after you submit your order.

  • Pre-denominated gift cards: Gift cards with a fixed value purchased through your shopping cart will be delivered via the shipping method you choose during checkout. Standard Shipping is free, and you can view the other available shipping options at our Shipping Rates and Times Help pages.

How do I print a gift card at home?

When you choose the "Print at home" option for your Amazon.com gift card at www.amazon.com/giftcard, we create a PDF gift card specific to your order that you can access from our confirmation e-mail or the Order Summary in Your Account. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to open and print PDF files.

Here's where you can access and print your gift card when it is ready:

  • Gift Card Ready e-mail: When your gift card is available for printing, we'll send you an e-mail to let you know it is ready. The e-mail contains a URL that goes directly to the gift card PDF file for printing. Click on the link provided or copy and paste it into the address bar of your Web browser to print your gift card.

  • Thank You screen: A link to "View your order and print your Amazon.com Gift Card(s)" appears on the order confirmation screen.

  • Your Account: You can navigate to the Order Summary by visiting Your Account at www.amazon.com/youraccount, clicking the GO button next to "Open and recently shipped orders," and clicking on the View order button on the gift card order. On the gift card Order Summary, click the Print gift card(s) button. If the button isn't available, your gift card is still processing. If you wait a few minutes and refresh the page, the button should appear. When printing from Your Account, you'll be asked to verify the credit card number used for the original purchase.

Payment Verification and Reprinting Gift Cards

When you are asked to verify the payment method used for the printable gift card, the card number must exactly match the information you entered at the time of purchase. You can print your gift card as many times as needed until the code is redeemed to an Amazon.com account, but the code it contains can only be redeemed once. When the gift card has been redeemed to an Amazon.com account, the Print gift card(s) button will no longer be available in the Order Summary.

What are mailed gift cards?

Mailed gift cards arrive in a greeting card printed with the information you entered into the order form. When you place your order, you'll be able to select the occasion and style of the card; we'll ship it to the shipping address you select during the order process.

How do I manage the delivery date for e-mail gift cards?

Help! My gift card order didn't arrive.

Tracking your gift card purchase and getting a replacement for gift cards that do not arrive depends on what type of gift card you purchased and how it was sent.

Pre-Denominated Gift Cards

If you purchased pre-denominated gift cards through the Shopping Cart, you can view all order details, including the shipment tracking information, in Your Account at Amazon.com.

If your gift card order doesn't arrive, please contact us.

Custom Value Gift Cards

If you purchased a customized gift card that was sent via mail or e-mail and it doesn't arrive, you can follow the instructions below for resending your gift card. Can I use Amazon gift cards on other websites?

Endless.com has joined forces to operate an online store powered by Amazon.com's e-commerce platform. The site features the full selection of shoes and accessories available at Amazon.com.

For your convenience, Endless.com will recognize when you have an existing account with Amazon.com. You can also use Amazon gift cards or an existing gift card balance for purchases on Endless.com -- your Amazon gift card balance is shared between both websites. As long as you use the same e-mail address and password to log into your accounts, you'll see the same gift card balance available for purchases.

I accidentally deleted my gift card; can you send me another one?

Please contact us with the following information:

  • order number (if possible)
  • giver's name and recipient's name
  • physical or e-mail address to which the gift card was sent
We'll contact you by e-mail once we have canceled the original gift card and issued a new one.

I'm having trouble using my gift card to place an order. What am I doing wrong?

Are you receiving an error message that says the gift card has already been redeemed? Once you've entered the claim code on our site, we'll keep the balance in your account for use on future purchases, and you don't need to enter the claim code again.

To confirm that the funds are already on your account, check your current gift certificate balance through Your Account. If the funds don't show up there, you might have more than one Amazon.com account; please contact us.

If this isn't the problem, check the Fine Print to make sure your order meets the rules and restrictions for paying with a gift certificate.

What happens to the rest of my gift card if I don't use it all at once?

Once you've entered the claim code on our site, we'll keep the balance in your account for use on future purchases, so you don't need to enter the claim code again when you place your next order. Please be aware that the original expiration date applies to any unused funds.

When you place your next order, make sure the box on the order form is checked that says "Apply gift card or promo funds?" If your order total is more than your gift card funds, you'll need to pay for the rest with a credit card.

You should see the gift card funds reflected in the cost summary. If the funds don't show up there and your gift card hasn't expired, you might have more than one Amazon.com account; please contact us.

Can I use my Amazon.com gift card to buy MP3s or video downloads?

Yes, Amazon.com gift cards can be used to buy Amazon MP3 and Amazon Video on Demand downloads. If you've already redeemed the gift card to your account, we'll automatically use it to pay for your downloads. If you haven't redeemed your gift card yet, just click the "Redeem a gift card or promotion code" link before clicking the Buy now button for the download.

What are the restrictions for using an Amazon.com gift card?

Please read our Fine Print for a full list of rules and restrictions.
