From the Tori no ichi Fair
As I was walking into one of our meeting rooms, I saw something a little odd...
What's that thing?!
It's as tall as a 10-year-old child! What...what is this?!
It turns out I wasn't going crazy. It was our company rake,
but not just any rake! Oh no, it's a Rake that's decorated for
the Tori no ichi Fair, also known as the Rake Fair!
Take a look at that beauty! But what is the Rake Fair, you ask?
Every year on November since the Edo Period, many shop keepers
would have their own rakes at Asakusa's Temple of Tori
or other various shrines to pray for good health, good fortune,
and good business. This fair happens every 12 days in November
because it takes place during the days of the Rooster (Tori).
So don't be surprised if you see this 2 or even 3 times per year in Japan!
