Steven Spielberg's 'Nine Lives' may have second life on NBC

2 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Steven Spielberg's "Nine Lives" failed to make it to air on Sci Fi Channel several years back, but the project may find new life on NBC.   Sci Fi Channel (now Syfy) ordered "Nine Lives" as a 12-hour miniseries project. The reunion of "Taken" scribe Les Bohem and super-producer Steven Spielberg was supposed to air in 2007.   The project, focusing on people using near-death experiences to reunite with deceased loved ones (and experiencing the kind of unfortunate blowback they could have avoided if only they'd just watched "Flatliners"), eventually didn't move from the announcement stage into actual production.   Now, »

Tina Fey may reprise Sarah Palin on 'Saturday Night Live'

2 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Tina Fey will probably reprise her famous impression of Sarah Palin when she hosts "Saturday Night Live" in April, the comedian told The Associated Press. "It's inevitable that we'll try it, at least," Fey said in an interview Tuesday. "We'll see if it makes it to air." Officials at the NBC sketch show wouldn't comment; "SNL" generally doesn't discuss any planned sketches, given that much can change even in the hours before show time. Fey's performances as the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate were an icon of the 2008 campaign and drew huge ratings »

Carson Daly gets new executive producer; NBC reaffirms commitment to late, late show

4 hours ago | EW - Hollywood Insider.com | See recent EW.com - Hollywood Insider news »

For a while there, it looked like NBC's Carson Daly would be out of job: If Conan O'Brien had agreed to air at 12:05 a.m. after Jay Leno -- which would have, in turn, pushed Jimmy Fallon to 1:05 a.m. -- there didn't appear to be a need for a (low-rated) show featuring Daly. But now that O'Brien's gone and Leno is set to host The Tonight Show again, NBC appears to be reaffirming its commitment to Last Call with Carson Daly: The network announced today that it hired Stewart Bailey (Daily Show with Jon Stewart) to »

Bachelor host Chris Harrison—who is my sun, my moon, my everything when it comes to giving us the real story—tells me Vienna's gotten "a bad rap." Say what? So is it possible that The Bachelor producers edited Vienna in such a way that we would be shocked if she were to say—Spoiler Alert!—win the final rose as she is rumored to do? Here's the scoop: Gia, who appears on today's episode of »

Exclusive: 'Lost' star Harold Perrineau finds killer 'CSI: NY' role

5 hours ago | EW - Ausiello Files | See recent EW.com - The Ausiello Files news »

It looks like late Lost castaway Harold Perrineau is about to shoot another harrowing death scene — only this time on CSI: NY. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the CBS procedural has tapped Perrineau to guest star as a death row inmate who ironically finds himself fighting for his life when he's trapped in a prison riot. And that's not the episode's only twist. Hill Harper's Hawkes also happens to be in the prison when the riot breaks out. What's he doing there? Can't say. I can, however, reveal that Perrineau's convict drops a huge bombshell on Hawkes' lap »

46 minutes ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online - Movies and Television news »

It is the burning Bachelor question of the moment: Will Ali become the next Bachelorette? (We've heard the producers are talking about it.) Well, we just spoke with Jake's Awol cutie (seen pouting on his shoulder above), and while she says she is "flattered" that ABC would consider her for such a "wonderful opportunity," her answer is not what we were expecting... "The idea of being put in another situation where I have to choose love over work is very frightening to me," Ali admits. Huh. So it turns out not every girl dreams of someday growing up to choose career over love on a nationally televised dating show, regret her decision and then do it all over again? »

Our Berlin correspondent Meredith Brody finds she has to pick and choose: and live with the results. The Berlinale initially seems like an endless buffet filled with alluring possibilities. But, even with so much to choose from, especially with so much to choose from, there are lots of ways to feel like you’re filling your plate with the wrong stuff. Enough with the food metaphor. What I mean is, although I try not to be quite as crazy as some of my festival-going friends who are Sure they’re always in the wrong movie, I can still be neurotic in other ways. If I see two disappointing movies in a row, I blame myself. If I’m seeing a movie that will eventually be easy to see back »

So Exactly Why Was Feel-Good Contestant Chris Golightly Disqualified From American Idol?

1 hour ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online - Movies and Television news »

It's just not American Idol without an early-season, hastily explained, fan-disappointing disqualification of one of the contestants. This year, heartstring-tugging crooner Chris Golightly fell victim to the Idol ax after seemingly making the cut as one of season nine's top 24 finalists. The curly haired Los Angeles auditioner even got his backstory told, informing viewers he was bounced around more than 25 foster homes as a child. The nation was pulling for the 25-year-old and, up until last night, it seemed to be working. Golightly was chosen as one of the top two dozen performers during Wednesday night's show—only to be mysteriously absent from the usual show-ending, contestant-boogying »

Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok' blocks 'We are the World' from the top spot on Hot 100

Never underestimate the power of skank over the power to do good: Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” keeps charity single “We Are the World 25 for Haiti” out of the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.  It would seem that the appeal of brushing one’s teeth with Jack Daniels trumps making the world a better place. It’s “Tik Tok’s ninth week at the top of the chart. According to Billboard, Ke$ha’s second single, “Blah, Blah, Blah” featuring 3OH3! is similarly storm trooping up a chart: it is No. 11 on Billboard’s Hot 100, led primarily from digital sales. “Tik Tok’s” block of »

'Bones' exclusive: Season finale will be 'big' and (more importantly) 'real'

It appears real, non-imaginary sex might be staging a comeback this season. Less than a week after House boss David Shore all but confirmed that House and Cuddy would soon engage in honest-to-goodness intercourse, Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan is hinting that Booth and Brennan — who, like House and Cuddy, did the faux deed last spring — might be headed for a legit roll in the hay as well. It's also possible I'm reading way too much into Nathan's comments, so, to be safe, I pasted the transcript of our brief exchange below. Read between the lines and tell me what conclusions you draw. »

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel continue to make a very fashionable couple—who also persist in proving the naysayers wrong. Not only was Biel at Timberlake and Trace Ayala's William Rast fashion show in New York City yesterday, but she was also sitting next to his parents, Lynn and Paul Harless. And the good times didn't stop there... Timberlake and Ayala hosted a star-studded afterparty at Hudson Terrace, where the "SexyBack" singer and his Valentine's Day starlet locked lips throughout the four-hour soiree, according to a source. The two shared a table, which was never without a bottle of Timberlake's 901 tequila. "Justin performed one song, causing the »

"This is the third time Mrs. Jolie has come to our store. The first time she was on her own with Maddox. It was during the Venice Film festival three or four years ago. »

Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn and Shani Davis Beat World—and American Idol

Not only doesn't Idol get beat by 12 million, it doesn't get beat, period. Or, at least until last night, it hadn't been beat by a time-slot competitor since 2004. Just the night before, on »
