'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains': No. 9 Rob Mariano

34 minutes ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The latest booted contestant on Zap2it's "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" countdown: Boston Rob.

Disclaimer: No prior knowledge of the season, these are merely prediction posts.

Once the Villains gain the upper hand post-merge by voting off James, we think the remaining Heroes alliance of Colby-jt-Amanda will see which way the wind is blowing and mobilize. They'll win Immunity, giving one of their threesome safety and they'll work on Rupert and Courtney to get Rob out.

Why will Rupert go along with it? Because he's easily swayed. Rupert was fun to watch but wasn't exactly a master strategist. Why will Courtney go along with it? Because she butts heads with guys like Rob and she'll be easy to convince to vote him out. She will probably also feel on the outs of Russell's alliance with Danielle and Sandra.

Plus, Rob has been all over the reality TV landscape. »

Lost's sixth and final season premiere was up 12 percent over last year's opener, but American Idol continued to dominate Tuesday nights.

Read our Lost and American Idol recaps

Lost's two-hour premiere averaged 12.1 million viewers and dominated the adults-18-to-49 demographic in both timeslots. It was the ABC's best two-hour performance since November 2007. ABC kicked off the night with a Lost clip show, which pulled in a decent 10 million viewers.

Fox dominated at 8 o'clock, however, as American Idol's Denver auditions drew 24.4 million viewers...

Broken Airplanes: Let Them Eat Cake on "Last Restaurant Standing"

56 minutes ago | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

It's sad to say that I'm now completely fed up with and frustrated by BBC America's Last Restaurant Standing (which airs in the UK under the title The Restaurant), with which I had been previously obsessed. After two fantastic seasons of culinary competition, the series has completely gone off the rails this season, bringing in unqualified contestants (some of whom don't even bother to cook) and throwing all sense of production values or carefully coordinated challenges right out the window, along with the series' once winning format. Last night's episode of Last Restaurant Standing ("The Cake") was shockingly awful. Besides for the fact that I found it inconceivable that this group of shoddy wannabe restaurateurs had made it this far in the competition (we're nearly at the end!), I felt like the series was even further undermined by the producers themselves, who created an illogical challenge for the teams--cater »

Channel Surfing: "Lost" Series Finale Date Revealed, Fox Has Had "Conversations" with Conan, "Doctor Who," and More

1 hour ago | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

Welcome to your Wednesday morning television briefing. Lost showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse appeared on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and announced that the series will wrap its run on Sunday, May 23rd. "The reason I think that anybody even cares about Lost is that we announced an end date three years ago," said Cuse. "We are eternally grateful to [Steve McPherson] to end the show on our own terms and I think that made all the difference in terms of Lost being the show that it still is." (Hulu) Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen has an interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse about some of the more specific plot points from last night's season premiere of Lost. As it's not yet aired everywhere yet (UK gets it on Friday), I won't quote anything from the piece but urge you instead to check it out. (Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch) Fox's Rupert Murdoch »

What You Missed Last Night: 'Lost' producers explain things to Jimmy Kimmel

1 hour ago | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

So you watched last night's season premiere of 'Lost,' hopefully with a bottle of Advil by your side. I think I know what's going on (translation: not really). But Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof were on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' last night and actually answered some questions from Jimmy about the plot (and spoiled some of it for the studio audience - the episode was taped before anyone in the audience had seen the episode).

The interview is in two parts, the second is after the jump.

'American Idol': Kimberly Caldwell's 'Mess of You' sneak peek

1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Kimberly Caldwell wants to share a bit of her first music video.

The "American Idol" finalist plays two roles in "Mess of You," which was shot in Hollywood's historic Roosevelt Hotel, reports USA Today.

There's "dating" Kimberly, who's in a relationship with a guy who's cheating on her, and then there's "protector" Kimberly, who's looking back on this relationship with more wisdom and clarity.

At times, the dual roles required that Kimberly be in two places at once, which meant hiring a body double.

"We gave her a wig, and we cut it into the side-mullet that I have right now," she tells the paper. "She had a little round nose, like I do, and no boobs. She was my height and my shoe size. She works out a lot, too, so we're both a little on the muscular side."

Check out a snippet of the video.

TV ratings: Good start for 'Lost' as 'Idol' tops Tuesday

1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010

The final season of "Lost" opened to bigger ratings across the board than last year's season 5 premiere, helping ABC to a solid second-place finish in adults 18-49 Tuesday. The Alphabet still trailed Fox and CBS overall, though.

Fox led the night with 16.9 million viewers and a 9.3 rating/14 share in households. CBS was close second with 16.1 million viewers and had a slightly better household rating, 9.9/16. ABC (11.4 million, 6.4/10) came in third. NBC (7.9 million, 4.9/9) took fourth as its gambit of putting "The Biggest Loser" directly opposite "Lost" didn't really work. The CW (767,000, 0.5/1) was barely in the picture with a night of reruns.

Fox's 6.4 rating took the top spot among adults 18-49, beating ABC's 5.1. CBS, 3.5, finished third, followed by NBC at 3.0. The CW managed only a 0.3.

Tuesday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

Fox: "American Idol" (24.4 million viewers, 13.3/20 households)

CBS: "NCIS" (19.1 million, 11.4/17)

ABC: Clip show - "Lost: The Final Chapter" (9.9 million, »

Late Night Highlights: Breastfeed Your Grammy and Then Teach It Anti-Semitism

1 hour ago | Movieline - TVline | See recent Movieline - TVline news »

The Jay Leno Show may have been off the air last night (in favor of a super-sized episode of The Biggest Loser to rival ABC's premiere of Lost) but there were plenty of other late night moments worth catching, mostly on Comedy Central. Maybe it is because the Daily Show and the Colbert Report only have twenty-two minutes worth of programming to fill, or maybe because their network gives them more leeway and less advertisers to please, but both shows hogged most of the night's brightest moments, leaving Jimmy Fallon to referee spit-takes and George Lopez to take another fruitless swing at Tiger Woods. After the jump, the best late night moments you missed while designing that Leno ballot-stuffer. »

Judging the 'American Idol' guest judges

2 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

We've finally wrapped the guest judges on "American Idol." How'd they all do?

One thing that hinders our judging of the guest judges is the fact that screentime is not always created equal.

By our (extremely scientific) calculations, we've seen 2 1/4 hours of Victoria Beckham, 1.5 hours of Mary J. Blige, 45 minutes each of Shania Twain and Kristin Chenoweth, about 30 minutes of Neil Patrick Harris, 20 minutes each of Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry and about five seconds of Joe Jonas.

Enough to judge how they did? It doesn't matter, we're going to judge anyway.

According to our guest judge polls, as of 8 a.m. Pt Wednesday, Feb. 3, on a scale of Bad, Meh and Great, Victoria Beckham was the only "Meh," Mary J. Blige, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry all got "Bad," Shania Twain, Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris all got "Great" and poor Joe Jonas got "I blinked and missed him. »

Nothing is Irreversible: The Season Premiere of "Lost"

2 hours ago | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

"Sorry you had to see me that way." And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you reveal the solution to a mystery six seasons in the making. Lost has been criticized in the past by some (not me, fortunately) for stringing viewers along with a series of new mysteries while never quite offering answers to the story threads already long dangling. But this is, after all, the final season of Lost and showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse wisely decided to take an approach of beginning to answer questions right from the start this season. Last night's two-hour sixth season premiere of Lost ("La X"), written by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and directed by Jack Bender, was a phenomenal start to the season, offering yet another narrative device employed by the duo and pushing the story along while also offering some more of the series' now trademarked serpentine mysteries. »

Joe Jonas Could Be Young Tommy on 'Brothers and Sisters'

2 hours ago | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

There's going to be an upcoming episode -- a two-parter -- on 'Brothers and Sisters' that will boldly go somewhere it hasn't gone before (at least not in any detail). And when they do, we may be seeing teen heart throb Joe Jonas on 'Brothers and Sisters' as Tommy Walker. That's the Balthazar Getty role.

ABC hasn't confirmed the Jonas casting, but it would make sense. Look at how much alike they are? But there's still a question about acting. Is Joe Jonas able to make us believe that he's a young Tommy Walker?

Jon Stewart Goes on 'The O'Reilly Factor' Tonight

3 hours ago | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

It isn't the first time that these two opposing television forces of Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly have collided. Their last match-up was in 2004. However, tonight on the Fox News Channel you can see the first of two parts of the big O'Reilly/Stewart smackdown during 'The O'Reilly Factor.' Two out of three falls! For the Championship of the World!

Well, maybe not any of that stuff, but it will likely be entertaining. Considering that I've watched O'Reilly on 'The Colbert Report' (Papa Bear came home) and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog on 'The O'Reilly Factor' (it was edited for content), I can't see this particular meeting of the minds as anything major.

Of the two, Stewart seems the more savvy but it's likely that O'Reilly will be the winner of any political debate that occurs. After all, he controls the editing room.

'Outsourced' the Movie, Not the TV Show Coming Soon

4 hours ago | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

'Outsourced,' one of what seems to be many Indian-infused situation comedies inspired by the wild success of 'Slumdog Millionaire,' actually came to a theater near you long before NBC picked up the pilot.

The movie as well as the TV show is based on an American who finds himself running a customer service department for a novelty company. The trailer included below actually gave me a couple of good chuckles and some hope that NBC isn't picking up its one-millionth 'The Office' clone.
