The AMA is committed to ensuring that physicians-in-training are successful as they advance through their education cycle. In doing so, it offers the most complete, up-to-date information regarding graduate medical education (GME) for medical students and residents as well as educators, academic physicians, and residency/fellowship program directors (such as a free downloadable guidebook for GME directors and coordinators).

Through a variety of tools and programs, such as a free monthly e-Letter that features news and updates on GME and a Web-based educational series (available 24/7) on Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education competency requirements, physicians in training and educators have constant access to important GME resources.

Obtain information on career and specialty choice, residency program selection, board certification, membership organizations, and community characteristics, such as cost of living and child care resources.

In addition, the AMA offers an online database of nearly 8,800 accredited GME programs that you can search by specialty, state or training institution.

Learn more about the AMA and Association of American Medical Colleges' GME program data collection as well as statistics for each specialty’s and subspecialty’s training programs.
