T-Mobile Wing
Whoever said smartphones are ugly, awkward, sluggish devices? T-Mobile's Wing is trying not to listen. First off, it looks hot. The metallic blue body is finished with a rubbery texture that's a joy to fondle, and the luminous 240 x 320-pixel touchscreen slides up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. It's also streamlined and intuitive, running Windows Mobile 6 easily with multiple applications. We managed to pound out a PowerPoint presentation whilst using Live Search to figure out directions to a friend's shindig. And when you get bored, fire up the instant messenger or play the highly addictive Bubble Breaker game. The Wing's tragic flaw? It's cursed with pronounced lag. The touchscreen is so unresponsive and web browser so pokey that we often just wanted to slam the device down and seek solace in a MacBookPro.
WIRED Rubberized, square keypad lets you type quickly despite being tiny. Wi-Fi and EDGE connectivity ensures Internet access almost anywhere. 2.3-inch wide body fits neatly into purse or pant pocket. Battery lasts for a solid six days.
TIRED Painfully long delays navigating through menu. Interface sometimes looks messy and disorganized. Touchscreen commands respond slowly when running multiple apps. Stylus location on bottom left not handy for most users.
