Erste Bank is a retail bank in Central Europe based in Vienna, Austria, and operating in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania (Banca Comercială Română), Serbia (Erste Bank Novi Sad), Slovakia (Slovenská sporiteľňa), and Ukraine.

The Erste Foundation (German: Erste Stiftung) owns 31% of the company's shares. Other significant holdings include Austria Verein (5.0%) and Criteria CaixaCorp (5.1%).[2] Austrian savings banks own a collective 9.3% of Erste Bank, with the remainder of its stock being held by employees and other investors.
