The Oly-Whites qualified for Beijing – their first ever Olympics – with a perfect five wins from five starts in Ocenaia qualifying in Lautoka, Fiji and will now line up in Group C against China, Brazil and Belgium.

Football has been played at every summer Olympiad since 1896 and 1932. Originally a tournament for senior national teams, and then amateur teams, the men’s tournament has been played in its current U-23 format since 1992 with the inclusion of three over-age players for the finals introduced in 1996.
