TAKE THE HATE OUT OF THE IMMIGRATION DEBATE

Check out the latest spoof from our “friend” John Tanton
January 5th, 2010

John Tanton  and his minions have launched a new website, www.centerforimmigrationtruth.org, which looks oddly similar to one you might recognize.  That's right-it's modeled almost exactly on NCLR's www.WeCanStopTheHate.org.

Really, though?  What about copyright law do they not understand?  And this coming from folks who constantly complain that we need to "enforce the law."

Not only is the website almost an exact duplication of NCLR's, the name is, hmmm... shall we say, an equally similar take on the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund's (MALDEF) www.truthinimmigration.org.  I mean, where is your creativity, friends?

But it doesn't stop there.  The website includes plenty of other hilarious details.  Here are just a few that will surely brighten your day:

  • NCLR is referred to as "The Race."  Of course, we would expect nothing less from the folks who thoroughly enjoy misinterpreting our name.  In case you are behind the times on this one, here's the real story:  The Truth about NCLR.  (Could it be that they copied us on the use of "truth" too?)
  • The website refers to certain immigration organizations and labor unions that want a responsible comprehensive immigration reform bill as "the subversive La Raza Open Borders Network."  Oddly enough, they don't seem to grasp that our We Can Stop the Hate campaign is not about immigration reform; it's about taking the hate out of the debate, the hate that Tanton loves to propagate.  Maybe that's why they conveniently left out many of our campaign partners, such as the Center for American Progress, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, and Media Matters for America.  Wonder why that is?
  • The "What's New" section of the site is blank.  Surprise!  Perhaps that's because this is just a stale regurgitation of the old lies they just can't let die.
Are you laughing yet?  Think your friends might find this funny?

Please consider forwarding this to five friends and encourage them to join the We Can Stop the Hate network

Seriously,  imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  We used to be pretty confident that we've been getting to the hatemongers.  Now we're sure of it.
