2011 Draft date for next Commissioning Round.
Commissioning Round Winter – 2011.
Draft deadline for programme ideas – January 7, 2011 at 1pm.
Draft deadline for GMS/BBC partnership decisions – February 4, 2011.
Details of these commissioning rounds will be published closer to these draft dates.
The MG ALBA/BBC partnership will accept ‘time-perishable’ programme ideas at any time and endeavour to return commissioning decisions on them without undue delay.

BBC Radio nan Gaidheal Commissioning 2010
BBC Radio nan Gàidheal aims to deliver a comprehensive speech and music service for Gaelic speakers, covering a wide range of genres and reflecting the issues, events, cultures and interests of the people of Scotland from a Gaelic perspective and through the medium of the Gaelic language.
We are currently seeking offers from independent production companies against two strands for the 2010/2011 schedule.
1. Friday evening 2100 weekly studio-based music show Mac’ille Mhicheil
The Mac’illemhicheil Friday evening music and conversation programme forms a key part of the Radio nan Gaidheal weekend schedule. Glasgow-based presenter John Carmichael plays host each week to a guest giving rise to warm, witty and entertaining late evening conversation complemented by a playlist featuring Country , Celtic and Gaelic music.
An opportunity now exists to take over production of this popular and well-established strand.

2. Music features
BBC Radio nan Gaidheal has designated 2010 as The Year of Gaelic Song , Bliadhna nan Oran. A wide variety of programming is being featured in the schedule and a web presence developed to celebrate and explore the legacy of Gaelic song. The daily Oran an La slot offers listeners the story both of a particular song and of it’s writer.
Each Monday – Thursday at 1603 – 1700 listeners can find programming focusing on a particular musical genre. The Tuesday slot is dedicated to a variety of series’ focusing on Celtic and traditional Gaelic music.
We are now seeking short series’ of musical features for this music strand inspired by the theme , Bliadhna nan Oran.
Proposals offering a contemporary perspective will be particularly welcome.
A maximum of 13 slots is available.
