The contemporary
pioneering journey was completed in eight hours on a
trans-Atlantic flight from France to Salt Lake City, a
startling contrast to the months-long expeditions endured by
the 80,000 pioneers who migrated to the Utah mountains from
1847 through 1869. Laura, 15, and a second-generation member
of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her
native France,
arrived in Utah this summer as an English student but found
herself involved in a youth activity, a four-day pioneer
trek commemorating the tedious journeys of the early Utah
settlers.

Missionaries from
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are known
the world over for knocking on people’s doors to share the
gospel. Now people interested in the faith can figuratively
knock on Mormons’
doors on the Internet to better understand their beliefs.
In a
revolutionary new launch of Mormon.org 4.0, 2,000 Mormons
have completed profiles,
13,000 more are in process, explaining why they live their
faith and why they are a Mormon. That number is expected to
eventually jump to 100,000 as the Church continues to ask
its members on LDS.org to
consider sharing their faith on Mormon.org.

Historically,
illustrations help convey the scriptural stories found in
the Book
of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
Artists’ creations vary in concept and content. From the
familiar compositions of Arnold Friberg (1913–2010), who
passed away 1 July 2010, that define Book of Mormon
characters in oversized, muscular terms, to the gentle, even
romantic impressions created by Minerva Teichert
(1888–1976), or to the contemporary realism employed by
Walter Rane, stories from the scripture come to life on
canvas.

dramatic displays of history from the scriptures and the
Church. These pageants are the product of thousands of hours
