Graduating Students Line-Up

Check in with your division at the Shrine at 1:30 PM. Please be on time! Enter the Shrine Auditorium through the doors nearest the Box Office on Royal Street. Signage will be posted.

Guests

Guests enter the Shrine Auditorium through the main entrance on Royal Street. Doors open at 2:00 PM. Guests must have a ticket to enter. Please hold on to your ticket for entry to the SCA Reception.

Wheelchair Access/Special Needs

A Special Needs entrance on Royal Street at the corner of Jefferson Blvd will open at 1:30 PM. Any guests in wheelchairs or with walkers should enter at this location. Only one family member may enter with the special needs guest at this entrance and sit with that guest in the wheelchair seating area.

Sign Language Interpreter

If a guest requires a sign language interpreter for the ceremony, please enter at the Special Needs door. Only one family member may enter with the special needs guest at this entrance and sit with that guest in the sign language interpreting area.

Strollers

Please check in all strollers at the Special Needs entrance. No strollers are allowed in the theatre seating area.

Reception

The SCA Commencement Reception follows immediately after the SCA Ceremony at the School of Cinematic Arts. Tickets are required. One ticket gets you into the SCA Ceremony and Reception. Graduates do not need tickets to enter either event.

Tickets

Tickets are required for entry to BOTH the SCA Ceremony and Reception. One ticket gets you into both events. Graduates do not need tickets to enter either event. If you need additional tickets for guests, please see a staff member in your division office.

Parking

Parking in any USC parking structure is free on Commencement Day. The closest structures in which to park near the Shrine are Parking Structure D, and the Parking Center at Jefferson Blvd & Grand Ave (entrance on 35th St). Please arrive early to obtain parking.

Cap & Gown Rental

Rental of regalia is available Wednesday, April 28 until 12noon on Friday, May 14 at the University Bookstore, 3rd floor. Bachelor’s - $39.99, Master’s - $49.99. Doctoral - $69.99. Caps, gowns, and hoods should be returned to the drop-off area outside the Bookstore on May 14, 2010.

Grad Photos

Grad Images will be photographing all graduates at the SCA Ceremony as each one crosses the stage. Grad Images will email complimentary proofs to graduates within 24 hours after graduation. Graduates should be sure to fill out a Photography Card before the ceremony, if they haven’t already done so in their division office. Everyone’s photo will be taken. No obligation to purchase. DVDs

DVD recordings of the SCA ceremony will not be available.

Commencement Book

The Commencement Book lists every graduate’s name who is eligible to graduate in Fall 2009, Spring 2010 or Summer 2010 provided they verified their information with Degree Progress or University Publications prior to printing. These books will be available at USC’s Main Ceremony and on campus, but not at the SCA Ceremony.

2010 Timeline for School of Cinematic Arts Commencement

February 23 – 25
GRAD FAIR
9:00 am – 4:00 pm in front of the Bookstore
Order graduation announcements, class rings, stoles and custom regalia.
Degree Progress, Herff Jones, Protocol & Events reps will answer your commencement questions.

March 1 – April 5
Register for the SCA ceremony:

Register online and order SCA ceremony tickets: http://scacommunity.usc.edu (Limit of 8 tickets. If you need more, please see your division coordinator.)
Fill out Commencement Cards in your division office.

April 6 & 7
Last chance to proof your name in the Commencement program displayed at Degree Progress (SAS 010) or University Publications (Student Union 400).

April 26 – May 13
Pick up tickets for SCA ceremony and honor cords in your division office.

April 28 – (12noon on) May 14
Rent cap and gown from University Bookstore – 3rd floor
Bachelor’s Degree: $39.99, Master’s: $49.99, PhD: $69.99
Drop off rented regalia by 5:00 pm on Friday, May 14

Thursday, May 13
9:30 am – The Graduate School PhD Hooding Ceremony, Bovard Auditorium
5:00 pm – Baccalaureate Service, Bovard Auditorium. Dinner starts at 6:30 pm.

Friday, May 14 – COMMENCEMENT DAY
7:45 am – USC Main Ceremony processional line-up in Alumni Park
8:30 am – Main Commencement Ceremony Processional begins
9:00 am – Main Ceremony begins (no tickets required)
1:30 pm – Students line up at Shrine Auditorium
2:00 pm – Guests enter Shrine Auditorium for SCA Ceremony (Tickets required)
2:30 pm – SCA Ceremony begins
4:30 pm – Reception at School of Cinematic Arts complex (SCA ceremony ticket required for all guests)
