13 Critical Studies students graduate with Ph.D's

Associate Dean Michael Renov announced the Staff Recognition Award to Linda Overholt who has been the Critical Studies program coordinator for the past nine years. 

He then introduced each of the six chairs who spoke about their specific divisions before handing out diplomas to each student, nearly 400 who participated in the ceremony.  In Critical Studies, there was a record 13 graduates who received their Ph.D.’s, each of whom was hooded by their mentors or surrogates. 

At the conclusion of the ceremony, students, families and faculty gathered on the Carson Stage, loading dock and surrounding area for an informal reception. 

Academic Events Coordinator Loretta Kania oversaw the Shrine ceremony and was assisted by more than 50 SCA staff and student workers.
