Opening Sequences for In-House Programmes
Opening sequence requirements for our programmes - with differing guidelines for Network Programmes, BBC Nations’ Programmes and Regional Programmes.

Network Programmes

BBC ONE/BBC TWO/BBC THREE/BBC FOUR Programmes
The BBC corporate logo must appear in the opening sequence of all in-house and co-produced programmes except when "BBC" is part of the programme name.
CBBC Programmes
Should not contain BBC or CBBC logo in the opening sequence of all in-house.
CBeebies Programmes
Should not contain BBC or CBeebies logo in the opening sequence of all in-house.

Minimum height of 48 Paintbox or 47 Aston television lines
The logo should be designed and integrated into the opening titles or pre-title sequence and must be static and either cut or mix on and off, be white or black only, not appear in the first two seconds of the programme, but it can appear at any other point in the title or pre-title sequence, be held for a minimum three seconds, appear within the grid for front credits, and be centered wherever possible, not use a dropped shadow.

Notes:
For network transmissions, there can be no opening branding for any BBC nation, English region, production centre, or independent production company or co-producer partner.


Non-Network Programmes for BBC Nations


Logos for BBC Scotland, BBC Wales and BBC N Ireland
Logos for BBC Scotland, BBC Wales and BBC Northern Ireland

(BBC Alba may also be used for Gaelic programmes and BBC Cymru may also be used for Welsh programmes)

The composite logo should be designed and integrated into the opening titles or pre-title sequence and must be static and either cut or mix on and off, be white or black only, not appear in the first two seconds of the programme, but it can appear at any other point in the title or pre-title sequence, be held for a minimum three seconds, appear within the grid for front credits, and be centered wherever possible not use a dropped shadow.

Re-broadcast on Network
If a programme from BBC Scotland, BBC Wales or BBC Northern Ireland is later broadcast on a Network, the network programme rule applies (details here). Only the corporate logo on its own should be used.


English Regions and Prodcution Centres

There can be no opening branding for any BBC region, production centre or any independent production company or co-producer.
