Work Release Facilities

The Facilities

Current Statewide Work Release Facilities By County (Map)

The Department currently has 15 work release facilities located throughout the state. All but one of these facilities is operated by contractors, who manage the daily safety and security and have oversight of the facilities full-time (24-hours a day, 7-days per week). Department staff are located on-site to assist in supervision, monitoring, and case management of the offenders and monitoring of the contracts. Offenders at work release facilities are required to focus on seeking and/or retaining employment; staff assist offenders in locating potential employers, as well as community programming and treatment services. Offenders are also encouraged to attend school, participate in specific programs depending on need and interest, and seek family reunification.

Work release facilities must be safe and secure for the offenders, staff, and the community. All 15 work release facilities have been accredited by the American Correctional Association, which requires strict adherence to numerous safety practices, in accordance with national standards.
