A1 Televizion (formerly TV Ballkan) is a private television station in Albania with a concentration in economic/business news. A1 has tried to attract a broader audience through shows such as Papparazzi and Hienat. It is also the only station with purely economic TV shows like A1 Biznes and Kapital. It has a Bloomberg-like format, with scrolling news and business quotes. News is updated in real-time 24 hours a day. Since January 2007, A1 Televizion has started airing movies and it probably has the latest and most famous movies of any local television in Albania, although it rarely advertises the fact, to comply with its 'new channel' image.[original research?]
[edit] Controversies
As of December 13, 2007 KESH cut the electricity supply to the channel's studios for defects in KESH's measurement apparatuses.[1] As of January 29, 2008 the channel ceased to broadcast for 17 days on gas powered generators and went off the air. It commented the events as political pressure by the government to the channel. On February 15, 2008 it returned on air.
