The South Dakota Democratic Party is the local branch of the Democratic Party in the state of South Dakota. The party is represented in the United States Congress by Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and Senator Tim Johnson, both of whom were re-elected in November 2008.Jack Billion recently resigned as party chair. Cheryl Chapman is currently serving as interim chair and will be running for the position in April. Rick Hauffe is the executive director.
