Mission

The Governor’s Office of Economic Recovery will ensure Florida receives its fair share of the federal stimulus dollars and then infuses the funding into Florida’s economy as quickly and efficiently as possible.  The office’s openness and transparency will empower the people of Florida to hold accountable local, state and federal governments, as well as private businesses and non-profit organizations, for their use of taxpayer dollars.

Activities

The Governor’s Office of Economic Recovery is responsible for the following activities:

Identification

  • Track all federal stimulus dollars flowing into state and local governments, as well as to private businesses and non-profit organizations.

Acceleration

  • Use the quickest methods possible to move the stimulus money into Florida’s economy.
  • Maximize the state’s use of available federal stimulus funds, including competitive grants.

Communication

  • Establish open and effective lines of communication with federal and state agencies, local governments, and the Florida Legislature to effectively and rapidly use federal stimulus funds.
  • Inform the public about the status and progress of the recovery effort.
  • Report to the Florida Legislature and citizens regularly about status of use of the stimulus funds.

Evaluation

  • Measure progress of recovery effort by tracking jobs created and retained.
  • Ensure recipients of stimulus funding are aware of federal requirements and that all parties comply with the provisions.
