Christianity is the religion of about 10% of the population of Brunei.[1] Contact with Christians in other countries, the import of Bibles and public celebration of Christmas are banned by decree. [2] Christians in Brunei are not allowed to proselytize. [3] Schools are not allowed to teach Christianity. [4] If religious organizations fail to register, its members can be imprisoned. [5] Teaching of non-Muslim religions in schools is prohibited. [6] Marriages between Christians and Muslims are prohibited. [7] People, who change their religion from Islam to another, are subject to societal and official pressure.[8] There was 0.6% Evangelicals in 1996.[9]

[edit] Roman Catholic Church
There are three Roman Catholic parishes in Brunei.[14] They belong to the apostolic Vicariate in Brunei.[15] The Right Reverend Cornelius Sim is a bishop and the Apostolic Vicar of Brunei.[16] He was ordained bishop in 2005.[17]
