This column, located in Prospect Park (Brooklyn, New York) commemorates the 400 Maryland soldiers who fought at Lookout Hill during the Battle of Long Island on August 27, 1776. Designed by Stanford White, the monument is inscribed with a quote attributed to George Washington: "My God, What Brave Fellows I Must This Day Lose!"
