fossil file system corrupts after a power cut
  Hello everyone. I have two PCs, one of which installs Plan 9 system functioning as a backup server by Venti; the other one installs Debian 6, using qemu to run a virtual Plan 9 fossil+cpu/auth server (because Plan 9 can't recognize hard disk for this machine). Both the backup and virtual servers run well lasting for a week. Today a power cut... more »

[p9p] problem with mk: variable being truncated
  hi, this regards plan 9 port. with a very simple mkfile, $prereq and $newprereq get truncated at slightly below 16*1024 characters. essence of the mkfile: allfiles=`{find -name '*.c'} foo:VQ: $allfiles echo $newprereq ...it seems to me formatted output library (fmt) is to blame, perhaps around the... more »

Lock loop in malloc()
  While attempting to compile Bison (yeah, still gnawing at that bone!) I have managed to jam cpp more or less solid. That's compiling scan-code-c.c which reduces to compiling scan-code.c. However, it does not seem to be Bison that's at fault: it seems that an invocation of alloc() tries to set a lock and never succeeds or gives up.... more »

thanks!
  a positive experience with p9p i wanted to share: wanted to use the p9p `dd' from rc script. there was no man page for p9p `dd', but quick glance throught its sources was just enough. the source code is clean and concise enough to serve as documentation as well :^) big thanks go to authors of p9 and p9p,... more »

NUMA
  This a generic question and not peculiar to plan9. In my main software (KerGIS), there are often two versions of the data. One version is saved, in a filesystem, in a portable format (size of int and float defined; endianness defined) so that the data can be served by a fileserver and used by whatever kind of CPU.... more »

changing acme colors
  Can anyone suggest how to change the background window color in acme? The yellow is not quite contrasty enough for me, and I would like to lighten it up a bunch. EBo --

awk, big REs
  I am trying to run configure for a GNU project on plan9. yes I know, but stay with me... it mostly works but part of the configure script fails where it runs awk over a header file and uses a rather sill RE to find all defines/undefines. /^[\t ]*#[\t ]*(define|undef)[\t ]+[_abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ][_a bcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDE FGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ012345678 9]*([\t (]|$)// { print; }... more »
