Oprah Talks Own Trials: "If I Knew It Would Be This difficult, I Wouldn't Have Launched It"

2 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

This might be the first time I've watched Oprah Winfrey speak openly about the difficulties she'd experienced running her new network Own. It's been primarily printed words until now (unless I just haven't been paying attention, which is certainly possible).  It's just rare to see her on the receiving end of an interview, and, as THR notes, it's even rarer to see her having to defend herself or professional ambitions, as she has had to in recent months, and does in the flesh below. This was from her Monday morning appearance today, live on CBS This Morning. Watch below:

'Celebrity Apprentice' star Dee Snider: Donald Trump didn't know who I was

2 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Sunday (April 1) night before firing Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider on "The Celebrity Apprentice," Donald Trump told him, "You're going to be big," which sounded like a major slight to someone who's been in the industry for more than 30 years.

"When he finds out I'm the guy that sang, 'We're Not Gonna Take It,' he said, 'That's you?" Dee says. "He doesn't even know who I am ... and I'm like, 'Why am I on the show?'"

Trump may not have known who Dee was, but he is super-familiar with another member of the "Celebrity Apprentice" cast famous for appearing on stage wearing lots of makeup -- Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza. The Miss Universe Organization is a partnership between Trump and NBC.

Dayana has been called back into the boardroom for potential firing more than anyone else on the season thus far, yet she's still around. Dee attributes that »

Olbermann Preparing Legal Battle Against Current

1 hour ago | Studio Briefing - TV News | See recent Studio Briefing - TV News news »

Keith Olbermann has vowed to sue Current TV owners Joel Hyatt and Al Gore, claiming that their accusations against him “are untrue and will be proved so in the legal actions I will be filing against them presently.” Olbermann, who was fired last Friday, will presumably offer as evidence email messages sent by himself and his manager to Hyatt and Gore in which he complained that they were not abiding by promises to back him with a professional-looking show. Excerpts from some of those messages were published Sunday by media writer Howard Kurtz on TheDailyBeast.com. “They add up to a portrait of a dysfunctional alliance that was doomed from the start,” wrote Kurtz. “Where Current management viewed Olbermann as a chronic complainer … the liberal commentator came to believe that he had joined a rinky-dink operation, even if the channel was committed to paying him $50 million over five years.” In one message, »

'Mad Men' has us wondering: Did the Rolling Stones really do a cereal commercial?

15 minutes ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Question: On Sunday's (April 1) episode of "Mad Men," Don Draper (Jon Hamm) and Harry Crane (Rich Sommer) go backstage at a Rolling Stones concert to pitch the band on recording a jingle for Heinz baked beans. Encountered by two doubtful young Stones fans, Don says "Well, they did a cereal commercial in England."

So, did they?

Answer: Indeed. The Stones recorded the catchy jingle above for Rice Krispies in 1963. And, no, Don and Harry didn't land the Stones for for a "Heinz is on my side" bean commercial.

Slate also points out that while the Stones never did a Heinz commercial, The Who included a spoof Heinz beans jingle on their 1967 album "The Who Sells Out":

Katie Couric: 'Good Morning America' hosting upsets 'Gma' staff

18 minutes ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Katie Couric is filling in for "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts the week of April 1, and there are some people over at the show who aren't very happy about that. Couric, who formerly co-hosted "Today," is taking over while Roberts is on vacation.

According to TMZ's source, the staff believes this is a slight against Roberts. "They should have put Katie on when George was on vacation," the source says. They also say that Roberts is unhappy, but hasn't said anything negative about anyone.

"Gma" is getting close to taking over "Today" in the ratings, and this appearance might be the thing that lands it in the top spot. We want to know what you think. Is this appearance a good or a bad move? The source says that Couric was very gracious and was clear about the fact that this wasn't a permanent move. »

'The Killing' ratings drop for season 2 premiere

52 minutes ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

AMC’s The Killing — with all its gloom and parkas and rain and mystery — returned Sunday night, but not all its fans came back to watch the show. Breaking AMC’s ratings hot streak this past year, the two-hour drama series debut averaged 1.8 million viewers. That’s down 33 percent from the show’s first season opener.

If you include the show’s repeat, The Killing topped out at 2.5 million viewers, down 47 percent from last year’s trio of premiere night airings.

Some wondered if the show’s ratings would drop for its second season after frustrating fans with an unexpected »

Full disclosure: I’m not a funny person — just awkward. And that becomes more evident when I’m in the company of Real funny people, like the two guys featured in this week’s Spoiler Room: Video Edition.

But one of the best things about having handsome devils Dulé Hill and Adam Pally sit on my couch? They took some of your questions. (It’s two degrees of celebrity interaction! Woo!)

Anyway, if you will lend me your ears for three more sentences (crowd throws ears): Please keep submitting your questions to SpoilerRoom@ew.com or via Twitter @EWSandraG. »

'Good Wife' promo: Chris Noth vs. Matthew Perry

1 hour ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

If there was any doubt that casting Matthew Perry as a bad guy was a smart move by the producers of The Good Wife, it’s erased in the newly released promo teasing the season’s final three episodes. “How do you keep an ambitious man from running? Tell him you’ll go after his family, with everything you got,” Perry’s Mike Kresteva tells Peter (Chris Noth), whose bid for governor has Alicia’s blessing. We love it anytime Peter threatens someone, but it sounds like Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is the one who might lose if this battle comes to blows. »

'Mad Men's' Ben Feldman gives us his best new guy pitch

As the newest addition to "Mad Men's" cast, Ben Feldman made his debut on Sunday's (April 1) episode as junior copywriter Michael Ginsberg, who he describes as kind of "brilliant, different and weird."

"I feel like I've been looking over my shoulder for months," Feldman tells Zap2it when we ask him what it's like to finally have the secret out. Show creator Matthew Weiner is notoriously secretive and kept Feldman's casting under wraps until (almost) Sunday's episode aired. "It's kind of nice to be able to relax a little bit and have a small amount that I can talk about."

Feldman, who TV viewers know as guardian angel Fred from Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva," says his audition -- like his on-screen job interview -- was utterly daunting.

"They don't want anybody to know anything, especially strangers that are coming in to audition," he says. "So you get a script, »

NBC, ABC Bring Out Big Guns In Morning Battle

A knock-down, drag-out fight between the two principal morning talk shows began this morning (Monday) with Katie Couric returning to the air on ABC’s Good Morning America at the same time of day that she did when she co-hosted NBC’s Today show. Couric, who will be filling in for Robin Roberts this week, acknowledged that she was “a bit nervous” as she joined what for her was once the enemy camp, doing mostly celebrity interviews and confiding to co-host George Stephanopoulos, “I’m riding shotgun. I’m a little rusty.” With Couric, ABC is hoping to come out ahead in the ratings war against rival NBC for the first full week since 1995. (It beat Today on two mornings in October 2007.) Her return received high praise from Washington Post TV writer Lisa de Moraes, who commented, “Katie’s back where she belongs.” Meanwhile, ABC is waging a counterattack by teaser. »
