So, what makes psychedelic music psychedelic? Typically the music contains some depth, whether in terms of surreal lyrics, audio effects that create imagery and texture, or pacing the music to be sympathetic to human heart rate, breathing etc and has the effect of replicating or enhancing a psychedelic experience. Sometimes this is achieved using technology (samplers, digital effects, etc) and other times techniques such as playing with pitch and speed of traditional instruments (electric guitar, drums, bass and voice) can be just as mind bending.

We try to cover all takes on psychedelic music. Whether this be Hawkwind from the 70's, or Shpongle from the current day. Not all genres of Psychedelic Music will be to your liking, but you may be surprised how various conflicting styles appeal.

Typically psybient, trance, dub and other electronic styles are immediately accessible, where as more lyrical, traditional styles require a few listenings before the music grows on you. Your experiences may vary though. In general it's better to listen to something you know (and therefore chosen because it suits the moment) than something you have just bought and are not convinced you like. There is nothing more annoying than thinking 'ah man! - I hope its not all like this! - am I wasting my time listening to this?'. If you know the music, you know it what you want.
