After hearing their promising debut EP, I was skeptical as to whether or not Tame Impala could deliver on their first full-length release, Innerspeaker. And, well, they did. The album is a hazy mess of swirling guitars and psychedelic Lennon-esque vocals. Speaking to the band shed an interesting light on their music.

Listen: bit.ly / bit.ly / bit.ly Tame Impala brings back the sounds of 60s psych like it's nobody's business, but I can't help but feel like the band is more of an exercise in nostalgia than anything else. The accuracy Tame executes these sounds with is almost unprecedented, but I'm still having trouble seeing this LP as standout or highly-enjoyable. Personally, I've enjoyed a lot of music like this throughout my life, and fail to see how this album brings anything different to the table. There are some newer and interesting sounds on it, though. If you're looking to get into psych, though, I'd highly recommend this. What do you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Elephant is the first track to be released from Tame Impala's second album Lonerism and the video was filmed by artist Yoshi Sodeoka, with live footage provided by The Silentlights. Frontman Kevin Parker has been reported as saying that the song is not really a song about being a loner, but a song about the bully. He goes on to say "It's the guy who thinks he's great, the jock. Imagine a real reclusive guy who's a bit bitter about this guy who thinks he's great. Which is the opposite vibe of the loner, so it presents him in the worst light."
