Before releasing her fifth album, Stronger, Kelly Clarkson hit the Billboard Hot 100 with lead single "Mr. Know It All," which peaked at No. 10. But it was with the offering's second standout, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," that she crowned the chart for three weeks. The empowerment anthem became Clarkson's third, and longest-leading, Hot 100 No. 1 after "A Moment Like This" and "My Life Would Suck Without You," selling 3.9 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In addition to best pop solo performance, "Stronger" earned a nomination for record and song of the year.

The tart earworm, included on her debut album, Kiss, spent a whopping nine consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100, has sold 6.3 million copies and became the second-biggest-selling digital song of the year. In addition to the track being named Billboard's Song of the Summer, the Canada native was recently honored as Billboard's Rising Star for 2012.
