Madden NFL 25 Skipping Wii U

It was conspicuous that EA Sports wasn't talking about a Wii U version of the latest Madden game, and now it's official that the game won't appear on the Nintendo console.

Nintendo World Report has a statement from a company representative that reads: "We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future."

The series put out a title for both the Wii and Wii U last year, but there were reports that the Wii U version didn't fare well.

Although Madden is one of the biggest sports series EA has (behind only FIFA worldwide), this latest move isn't that surprising given that so far, the latest iterations of the Tiger Woods, NHL, and NCAA series are also not appearing on the Wii U.

  • Another game skipping the Wii U, nothing new or surprising about that.
  • I thought the GamePad would do well for selecting plays and modifying them, as well as getting an overhead view...oh well. I'm not too upset about this one personally.
  • "We have a strong partnership with Nintendo" thats like saying Republicans have a strong partnership with Democrats; total BS.
  • Madden should just take a few years off and rebuild everything. I'm not a fan of sports games anymore really, other than the occasional FIFA and NHL. But Madden has absolutely lost a lot of its fun factor.
  • i knew this thing was going to sink, but the nintendo fanboys just keeping hope alive arnt they. so when will the wii u get some love? was folks advised "hey before you purchase this new console KNOW THIS! very dire lacking of games coming out on time for it".. oh no they were sold on this and that and a whole bunch of PR claiming the wii u will be awesome. save your pennies folks and i sure hope gamestop gives folks extra credit when they start turning this thing back in asap. bayonetta 2 is NOT going to save this sinking ship. yep my spell's a working alright.
  • Dude, wtf? Are there any games on WiiU at all that are worth playing? I'm genuinely curious. It just seems that EVERYTHING is skipping it.
  • I was thinking yesterday, and I really believe, Nintendos single biggest mistake was calling this thing the Wii U. That's the reason so many people misunderstand it as a peripheral and not a full, new console. They probably paid marketing firms millions to research the name, when really they could have asked just about anyone on the street and they would have said, "Cool, but name it ANYTHING, literally ANYTHING other than Wii U. Even Wii 2 is better" It's really incredible how bad that name is.
  • Well, I kind of expected this since EA has been treating Nintendo like garbage because they are still angry that Nintendo wouldn't integrate Origin into Miiverse. I, personally, am not a fan of the actual NFL video games, but this certainly isn't good news for anybody who wants NFL 25 for the Wii U.
  • meh, everybody's blackballing the Wii U these days.

  • A "strong partnership", but Crysis 3, Battlefield 4, and now Madden 14 won't appear on the console.
  • Wow, this is a blow. Madden (love it or hate it) is ALWAYS in the top 10 games sold every year.

The Wii U could have been JUSTIFIED with this one game, demonstrating how cool it is to pick and even design plays with that touchpad controller. 20 million copies of Madden 25 = 20 million Wii U's being sold. but now they're not even going to try. wow.

  • I guess they'll have to make more mario games.
  • Honestly, at this point, it's more newsworthy when Wii U DOES get a game.

  • HAHAHA Im soooo glad I didnt buy that crap. Better luck next time! (Super Mario voice)

  • Ah, whatever. We all know that Super Smash Bros. U will be one of games that make the Wii U sell like crazy. The Wii U isn't dead and it isn't dying. It has flaws but I love it. Its gonna do the exact same thing the 3DS went through.
  • We already knew this back when we found out it was going to be called Madden 25.
  • Nintendo better roll out a good fall line up!

  • most wii u owners also have an xbox or ps3, and most ppl didn't get a wii u to play madden or 2k, which is exactly why EA is not wasting their time.
  • ;( maybe madden u will come out

  • Gamepad should be perfect for thing like pre plan moves or offensives... but this is EA and they still butthurt crybabies to Nintendo about the origin thing. so Im not surprised
