Microsoft Registers Multiple Xbox Fusion Domains

While Microsoft won't announce the official name for its next-generation Xbox console until a scheduled event on May 21, it has registered multiple Internet domains for the name "Xbox Fusion."

The website Fusible spotted the registrations, which include XboxFusion.com, XboxFusion.infoXboxFusion.biz, XboxFusion.de, and XboxFusion.co.uk.

Obviously, companies register domains for many reasons, so this may not be indicative that Fusion is the name of the company's next console. Still, Microsoft has certainly gone out of its way to make sure that it has secured a variety of Xbox Fusion domains. According to Fusible, it also owns the rights to the domains XboxNext.com and XboxGold.com.

  • That's one of the worse ones I've heard, but then again I haven't heard many good names for the neXtBox
  • Cool, I wonder what kind of experience "Xbox Fusion" will offer. Sounds like it's gonna be more interactive. If that's the real name anyway.
  • If the next Xbox doubles as a fusion reactor, I'll buy it.
  • Xbox Fusion? Man, what a great name. Like no joke. Fusion is fun to say out loud and it sounds nice. Example: "Yeah, man. I'm gonna play some Fusion this weekend." Sounds cool to me! If Fusion is the name of next console, then Microsoft is making smart decisions for the next console!
  • If that's the name, then I can't wait for the sequel of Fuzion Frenzy!
  • Better than Durango...
  • It makes sense with all this illumiroom stuff we are hearing about. That is Kinect 2.0 right there. Going by their previous naming conventions (Kinect uses 'Kinetic' energy to 'Connect' gamers), this is right up their alley. Xbox Fusion 'fuses' the game world with the real world by projecting game worlds into the users' gaming space. And there it is! Im down. it has a nice ring and differentiates from the Xbox 360 just enough to let people know it is an entirely new console.
  • I like the name Fusion it sounds good when you say it but I think I understand why Microsoft would use the name Fusion for the next Xbox. Xbox Fusion Fusing together games and entertainment. I can totally see this being the next Xbox's tagline and Microsoft having a heavy push towards both gaming and entertainment services making the Fusion name the perfect fit for the console.
  • Probably a fusion of the PS3 and the Wii U GamePad.
  • Maybe Fusion is the interconnected Xbox Live between 360, windows 8, windows phone, and the next xbox. Or it could not.
  • I'm actually a little concerned about what the name fusion implies-on one hand it could be something cool like illumiroom, on the other it could mean that it has to be always online- "fused" to the internet......
  • Kinectfustion...

  • it is one of the versions of the new xbox. its a "combo pack" of hardware.
  • It's for the new Xboxfusion smoothies, duh guys.
    With Xtra Xtreme fruit flavor
  • fusion? thats pretty stupid

  • That's worse than "Wii U"
  • Well then, let's see where this goes shall we?
  • I heard a rumor that the next xbox will have some sort of peripheral device that would basically be a cut down 360 that would plug into the new xbox and provide backwards compatibility support. The fusion name would make sense in that regard. It would also make sense if the Kinect is already built into the system. Could have something to do with inter-connectivity with phones and tablets. Who knows. I suppose that isn't a terrible name. So much to learn before I make up my mind on the next gen. It might be quite a while post E3 before I even come close to that decision. I might even wait for another E3 to decide.
  • Probably because of the cable and console combination the rumors say they're going for.
  • BWAHAHAHAHA. Oh, Microsoft. Should of just named it ''HaloBox''. That's all anyone's going to buy it for, anyway.
