Star Wars: Battlefront III Live Stream Appears Online

Twitch user PtoPOnline just ended a livestream of Star Wars: Battlefront III gameplay. The live stream has already ended, but you can head here and here to see the archived videos. The Twitch channel, and its corresponding website, ptoponline.com, specializes in the coverage and streaming of pre-release games, betas, and cancelled projects, like Battlefront III.

Free Radical co-founder Steve Ellis, the developer who was working on Star Wars: Battlefront III, said the game was 99% complete before it was cancelled. According to Ellis, it was in the bug-testing phases of development.

    Is anyone else tired of these stories about Battlefront 3? How many times do I need to see a game that I will never get to play? How many times must you crush my spirit before it's enough?

    Maybe one of the guys at GI or someone on the forums could answer this: If a game is really 99% complete as Steve Ellis said Battlefield III was, why would a publisher cancel it? How does that make sense, financially, if the game is practically ready to be put out the door? All the time and money spent on creating a nearly finished game is just wasted. Wouldn't it make more sense to just finish it and release it to recoup the costs?

    I have to say, it looks quite rough, I don't see how this could have been anywhere near 99% complete. Regardless, it would still be cool to try it out, somebody that has the game needs to release a copy so that others can play it. Seeing as it will never get an official release I think in this situation sharing this game would be justified.

    99% done seems like a bit of an overstatement when you watch the gameplay. It looks really, really rough. Texture pop ins, missing textures, rough animations, jittery framerate, horrible audio at some points. 99% done this was not.

    Also, the screen shaking while running was horrible. Who thought was a good idea?
