Imagine Dragons 'Not Going to Win' a VMA

Imagine Dragons, whose debut album, "Night Visions" dropped earlier this week, are nominated for their first ever MTV Video Music Award at tonight's ceremony. They share the Best Rock Video nom for their single, "It's Time" with The Black Keys, Coldplay, Jack White and Linkin Park. While the band -- who got their start three years ago playing at casinos across the Vegas Strip -- feel honored to be nominated, they are certain that they stand zero chance of bringing home a "Moonman."

"Our competition is just insanely good," explains guitarist Wayne Sermon. "Coldplay, The Black Keys…it's ridiculous!"

"We are certainly not going to win Best Rock Video. If we had a chance, it would be for 'Best Band That You Don't Know', joked frontman Dan Reynolds.

The band told Billboard that while they feel grateful to be nominated, they have not planned any acceptance speeches. "There is not even the slightest chance for that to come back and bite us in the ass," says bassist Ben McKee, who plans to riff a speech if they do somehow win.

The four piece Vegas indie rockers are one hundred percent focused on promoting their new record. "We are all pretty much narrow minded, tunnel vision people. We're obsessed with this project right now," says Reynolds who explained that "Night Visions" was three years in the making. Traditionally known for releasing a slew of EPs, the band has finally entered "the album group."

"We waited to make an actual album till we were comfortable with who we were as a band. I feel like this is a good starting off point for us officially. Where we go from here, who knows but this is a really accurate statement of what we've become over the past three years," said Sermon.

Reynolds explained that most of the album's creation process happened late at night and was inspired by different nightmares/dreams that he had, as well as Sermon's insomnia. "The title "Night Visions" seemed to really fit perfectly with the vibe of the album."

"Night Visions" was recorded in the band's home studio and in Los Angeles with Alex Da Kid. Production was finished up at Studio X in The Palms in Las Vegas. "It was sort of a full circle experience for us to do it there. That's where "It's Time" was recorded back when we had been together for a couple of years so it definitely felt like coming home for us," said Sermon.

Imagine Dragons plans to hit the road with AWOLNATION in the coming weeks, followed by European tour dates in November and then their own headlining tour.

"We've been living on the road and eating bean and cheese burritos everyday from Taco Bell. We live and breath music and it's a very comforting thing as an artist. We're probably going to be on the road for the rest of our lives!" exclaimed Reynolds.
