There's a surprise at the top of European Top 100 Albums, on which Anastacia's self-titled Epic album moves back to No. 1, a position it held for seven consecutive weeks in April and May. The album was No. 5 on the composite chart the week before.

"Anastacia" is back up 13-5 in Holland, 8-5 in Austria, 9-7 in Spain, 8-7 in Germany and 15-9 in Italy, and holds at No. 7 in Portugal. The single "Left Outside Alone" is No. 5 in Spain and No. 10 in Italy; follow-up "Sick and Tired" is released in some European markets next Monday (July 26). Epic puts Anastacia's career worldwide sales at 12 million units.

Several other long-running album favorites move back up the pan-European tally, with Usher's "Confessions" (LaFace/Arista) improving 4-2 and Scissor Sisters' self-titled Polydor set up 11-5 overall. "Scissor Sisters" returns to No. 1 in the United Kingdom, where total sales are now 600,000 units. Four Universal Music U.K.-signed acts are now in the top six of the British survey, with McFly's "Room on the 3rd Floor" (Universal) at No. 3, Keane's "Hopes and Fears" (Island) at No. 5 and Snow Patrol's "Final Straw" (Fiction/Polydor) at No. 6.

Maroon 5's "Songs About Jane" (J/BMG) improves 8-7 on Top 100 Albums, with a notable Scandinavian presence, including No. 2 in Finland and No. 5 in Norway. Also, in the week of its nomination for the Nationwide Mercury Prize, the Streets' second album "A Grand Don't Come for Free" (Locked On/679) moves 2-1 in Ireland, 3-2 in the United Kingdom and 14-9 overall.

The highest new entry on Top 100 Albums, at No. 8, is "Here I Am" (Hansa) by pop vocalist Alexander, following a No. 1 debut in his native Germany. That's a near-repeat of May 2003, when the graduate of the TV talent series "Deutschland Sucht den Superstar" entered at No. 1 in Germany and No. 9 overall with his previous album "Take Your Chance."

O-Zone's "Dragostea Din Tei" (Media Services/Time/Vale) starts its sixth week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles, but is now being pressed again by the rival version of the track by Haiducci, on Universo. That version rises 6-2 on the Eurochart after climbing 4-2 in Germany, 6-3 in Sweden, 6-5 in Belgium and debuting at No. 5 in Hungary.

The Eurochart's top debut, at No. 5, is the dance crossover "Lola's Theme" (Positiva) by Shapeshifters, a duo of Englishman Simon Marlin and Swedish-born Max Reich, with vocals by Cookie of the London Community Gospel Choir. The track enters the British chart at No. 1, selling 51,000 copies. Former S Club member Rachel Stevens enters behind Shapeshifters at No. 2 in Britain and No. 10 on the Eurochart with "Some Girls" (Polydor), a charity single for the BBC's Sport Relief.
