U.K. pop singer Cheryl Cole has withdrawn from TV and festival commitments while she receives treatment for malaria.

Cole, who has a solo career in addition to her role in Girls Aloud, has pulled out of August's V Festival dates in the U.K. next month.

"V Festival sadly informs fans that Cheryl Cole will no longer be performing at this year's festival," said a statement from the organizers. "Our thoughts are with Cheryl at this time and we wish her a quick return back to full health. "

The BBC reports she has also had to pull out of filming for the new series of "The X Factor" later this month.

Cole was admitted to hospital on July 5 and transferred to a private clinic four days later. She is thought to have contracted malaria on a trip to Tanzania.
