Giant snakes have taken over the world and it is up to you, playing as Kate, to save everyone. In order to do so, you will travel back in time to four different epochs, explore different locations, and solve hidden object puzzles and mini-games along the way.
A sequel to House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster (Collector's Edition) and House of 1,000 Doors: Family Secrets - Collector's Edition, "House of 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame" is a fun and worthy entrant in the series. The game has a nice storyline and some nice graphics which are creepy enough but not too scary (even if you don't like snakes!). The storyline is easy to follow and enjoyable. Kate continues to be a strong intrepid heroine who is not afraid of anything and willing to help those in need. The game play is basic - you move from location to location finding objects you need along the way as well as play mini-games and hidden object games. What makes this game stand out are the few twists incorporated into it. In the hidden object games you find the object hidden out in the open, move some things to find the hidden object, or put two things together to make the hidden object you are looking for. A nice twist on these puzzles is the reverse hidden object games where you have to find ten items in the picture that match the ten items in your inventory - this is challenging in the beginning but easy enough to master after awhile. The mini-games are pretty basic and fairly easy to solve. The other thing that really stands out in this game is the interactive map that not only tells you where you are but what locations have scenes that can be worked. Read more ›

I've played the previous two in this series and find them among the best games out there. This one is the best of the best. It has an interesting story, terrific graphics and a better variety of games than the others. One thing about this game that I liked was that what you achieved from completing a puzzle was something that made sense. I've always thought it silly when you solve a complicated game and find something like a rag in the elaborately locked safe. Really? Who would put a rag in a safe to begin with? The finds in this game are more realistic.
I favor games with maps like these have which make navigation easy. All in all play was great. Just sorry when I'd finished both the main game and good bonus game. Want more :).

That someone appears to be Kate and you play as Kate. Somehow a stranger brought you unconscious to the House of 1000 Doors and then collapsed. The narrator is wrong. There is one place that is safe, for now at least. And that is this amazing house. But you are not content to sit in the house. You have to find a way to rid your world of the giant serpents. To do so, you have to visit the House of 1000 Doors in another dimension. Discover the alien race whose artifacts will help you in your quest. And find out who your rescuer is, with his odd face tattoo and interesting amulet.
"Serpent Flame" is a combination game, with inventory adventure actions, puzzles and hidden object (HO) scenes. At the beginning, you chose between playing in the Casual mode or Expert mode. I recommend the Expert mode for all but young kids. You still get unlimited hints, that recharge every 1 minute. And you can skip puzzles. Plus, in the Collector's Edition, you have a built in strategy guide which is comprehensive.

This game is well worth the price. You certainly won't be disappointed. There is a lot for the heroine to do to end the crisis.
All the 1000 Doors games have been splendid fun. This one I raises the bar. In the CE, the strategy guide is dead on, and stays on the page you last needed. It makes me crazy when you have to page through a chapter or, worse, the whole thing to find what you're looking for. The graphics are wonderful, and the bonus game is more elaborate than any of the separate chapters in the main game. Well done!
