AmScope M500 40x-1000x Advanced Home School Student Widefield Biological Compound Microscope with Sturdy Metal Framework and All Optical Glass Lenses

I needed a scope for use in my kennel to help identify ear mites and other parasites. I was concerned at first after reviewing other scopes and their specifications. I didn't think I would or could find something in a reasonable price range that wasn't plastic. You typically have to be concerned when you see low prices with a promise of good quality. I decided to order this scope because of the glass optics and the fact it was described as not being plastic. When it arrived and I took it out of the box I was impressed. The build quality is very good. Sturdy, heavy and well made. Everything was well packed and the optics are included in separate containers and are easy to install. The scope's light is bright and the optics are very good. Very satisfied with this purchase, especially at the price.

Purchased as a present. I was looking for simple microscope of decent quality. What arrived in the box was a full featured, solid, school/lab grade microscope. My 14 year old son put it together without help. I've used it and I'm quite impressed with price vs. value!

I wish it came with a catalog of accessories for upgrade.

My son needed a microscope for this seventh grade science project. And, this particular microscope proved to be a fine instrument. But, more than that, I wanted to let people know that you can get a relatively inexpensive camera that works with the microscope, the Amscope Digital Camera Microscope Imager. Having the photographs made my son's project successful. All you have to know is that there is a tiny, minuscule screw that allows you to unscrew the eyepiece and screw on the camera in its place. The camera software worked beautifully on my son's PC laptop and was easy to use. The printed images were also vibrant and clear. One more thing -- there's a small bottle of oil that comes with the microscope. At first, we didn't know what it was, but then we figured out it was for "oil immersion microscopy." You put the oil on the slide and move the 1000x objective into it and it increases the magnification. It was easy to do and very cool!

After going back to college I found a real love for the unseen world, I got this as a Christmas gift and was amazed at the quality and clarity of this microscope!I would definatly recommend this to anyone intrested in a quality piece that doesn't want to spend a small fortune!

I purchased this for my 7 year old grandson who has a high interest in sceince. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the microscope. It is very sturdy and not a toy. The only regret I have is not purchasing the one with the digital compound camera.

I shopped around on Amazon and looked for a microscope that was an all metal unit with precision optics and 4 lenses,I found the one I was looking for,the Amscope Advanced school and home compound microscope.This one is solid built,has nice clear images and a smooth feel when turning the focusing knobs,have tried this out several times,all i can say is for the money the Amscope is a quality instrument and built to last,having fun exploring the microscopic world I would recommend this unit to all.

We got this microscope for my son who is 17 after returning 3 other brands all in the same price range.This microscope is great and well worth the money, he loves it and it will work great later this year for college!!!

This is a perfect Product for a homeschooler. My children have seen a whole new world in science. This one is powerful enough to observe blood cells up close, and even watch them attacking an invader. And you should see what is in pond water, ameboeas, worms, algie and many unknown bugs. Best one I could have purchased for them.

I purchased this microscope for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift. She is in med school and really wanted one with at least 1000x magnification so this one was perfect (also purchased the 20x piece so she can get 2000x magnification).

I packed it in a long box that an ironing board came in, and when Christmas day came she thought it was a telescope, the look of disappointment on her face was classic, until she opened it and just started to cry. She was so excited and she loved the microscope so much.

She says she can see things very clear and the microscope is easy to use, on the 1000x and 2000x (optional piece required) magnification, the focus is really sensitive but once you master it she says it works wonders. It's as good as the ones in her school.

The frame is solid and it's built well, I work with the City of New York and some of the DEP microscopes don't even look as good as this one. My girlfriend is officially the envy of her classmates on Facebook.

She loved it so much, that she fell asleep on the floor with her arms wrapped around it on Christmas day!

Based on the reviews, I ordered this for my 4th grader hoping it would of sufficient quality to last for several years. We were pleasantly surprised with the sturdiness and functionality. In this day and age of plastic, Made-in-somewhere, online products, we were worried. However, so far so good. It looks like it will be with us for many years to come. It came with a variety of accessories except the glass slides which was a bummer. I didn't realize it would not be part of the package. I had to order that separately delaying the use of the microscope.
