Refs added Fred Rockwell

Hi, I added references to the article Fred Rockwell, please let me know if you would like anything further. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fred9509 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't delete "Durgadas Kamat"

I would like to submit here that the suggested changes have been made in the article. Durgadas Kamat is a notable politician in Goa and the adequate resources have been linked to the article to prove this. Thanks for your kind consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Belleshenoy (talkcontribs) 09:14, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Refs Added

At your suggestion refs have been added to the Steve Thompson (songwriter) page. I enlisted some help and hopefully some others will also respond to the request. Forgive me if I overstep protocol here, I don't know if it's OK to add this to the top of your talk page. Is it now possible to remove the deletion notice from the page (it's so ugly) as we continue to compose it. Stmedia (talk) 09:21, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't mark "Gopal Kishore Agrawal" for deletion

This is a biography of an eminent deceased personality who has made several contributions to the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department. He was on the board of governors of the Thompson College of Engineering (Roorkee University). He was also the founder principal of Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College. Please let me know if you have questions. I am still in the process of developing this page. Thank You!

Hello

I was wondering if you can revive the page "Lee Sung-kyung" I understand that when you deleted the page because she hasn't been on anything but music videos, but so far she's been in a drama and now variety shows. Please reply back. :)

Thalassery Raghavan

I agree there is little about him online but the fact is, that most of the work related pages are not online and his movies and literary works are done between 1970's to 2003 and they are in malayalam - south indian language, so kindly let me know where to post. Kindly allow me to edit and put full detail of him

Blind Willie Johnson

Thank you for reviewing my recent articles on some of his songs (I ain't done yet). Next up, maybe – Washington Phillips. Narky Blert (talk) 23:54, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll need to go round again on Blind Willie's songs, I keep finding new reliable-looking sources. Narky Blert (talk) 23:54, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Have you any insights on the term Amen Corner? I had long suspected that it was older than almost anything if not everything in WP - and working on God Don't Never Change reinforced those suspicions. (The next time I meet online my Christian friend Tom in OK, born c.1940, I'll be asking him too.) Narky Blert (talk) 00:14, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Gareth Davies

It's wrong to say that Richard Gareth Davies does not have references. They don't appear in a reflist, but three books authored by him are in the text. To satisfy the "letter of the law" I can duplicate the information as actual references, but this seems pointless to me. Peter coxhead (talk) 10:59, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have added additional material, but my original objection to your listing for deletion stands. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:39, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Peter coxhead; I was beginning to wonder whether it was only me. So let me run this one by you and Wgolf while I have the attention of both. I created the article partly because the notability of RGD seemed to me adequate anyway, but equally because I wanted to avoid red links; in other words, there was a need for such an article and there are a few references to the article already. Persons working in this field might very well want to look up this name, either in his own right, or as referred to in the Imms and Richards articles among other places. As I see it this is already adequate justification for such an article.
However, there is a deeper problem as I see it. One gets stubs and small articles and full-sized studies, and I urge that even the original stub article, that barely mentioned the name, d.o.b. and the cited fact that he was an entomologist, could have justified its inclusion and retention. It might not have satisfied what a user might want to know, but it would have provided both a starting point and a perspective for further reference searches, and might in fact have been enough for many purposes.
So: what is the substantial basis for such proposed deletions, or the justification for any WP rules behind them? In my personal use of the encyclopaedia (and other reference sources) I have encountered stubs with less material content, without any sense that they did not belong in an encyclopaedia. My general impulse was to expand them where I could, not delete them. A Swedish member of the WP actually has written a stub generator that had added thousands of stubs to the Swedish WP, and IMO, he has performed a service, not sabotage. I would appreciate clarification of this point. JonRichfield (talk) 13:43, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
happening to come by, JonRichfield, stubs are certainly acceptable here. They don't in general even need a reference, except for BLPs. But even for BLPs without references, the appropriate method of deletion is WP:BLPPROD, not speedy. All that is necessary to pass speedy is an indication of plausible importance, and listing the books was sufficient to do that. The A7 tag was not appropriate--saying someone has published books (other than self published books) is an indication of significance, tho it may or may not be enough to pass WP:NAUTHOR. As for BLPPROD, technically, the ISBN numbers are a sufficient reference, but it is good practice always to add something in our usual reference format to avoid questions. DGG ( talk ) 06:19, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@ DGG many thanks. I wasn't aware of those policies. There is a mountain of them of course, and I confess that I keep falling foul of them myself, so I emphatically am in no position to bite Wgolf for any arguable interpretations of the finer points. Anyway, it at least forced me to dig up some material on Davies, and of course I must thank Peter coxhead again for the material that he added. Twinkle

Templating the user talk page is optional with Twinkle. Just un-tick the wee box. Sometimes it's better to not template, or to do a hand-written note instead. Too many templates, and the user will not see the hand-written notes, which may in fact be more important and/or more helpful than the templates. Keep up the good work -- Diannaa (talk) 02:42, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

CentraleSupélec

Hi Wgolf, thanks for your remarks on my contribution. CentraleSupélec is a new French engineering school which is the result of the merger of two existing schools, Supélec and École Centrale Paris. I just created an entry in the English Wikipedia, which I and my collaborators will enrich quickly. I added a short introductory sentence and some categories to the article. I hope for the moment this will be enough to stop the page from being deleted.

Reviewing

Hi! I see that you do a lot of page reviewing. That's great ... but PLEASE don't mark an article as reviewed if it has a copyright violation. You OK-ed Eleonora Buratto about 15 minutes before I removed the material copy-pasted from her website. I'm just guessing, but I think that, at the very least, if you see that a page has a contribution by CorenSearchBot in its history, you should probably check that the problem has been fixed and been marked as fixed at WP:SCV, before you OK it (it doesn't matter if the notice is still on the article on not, people often just remove them without doing anything to fix the problem). What would probably be better, but more time-consuming, would be to run this useful tool on each article before giving it the thumbs-up. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:08, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay-well I didn't see the copyright violation was the thing so thanks for the heads up. Wgolf (talk) 20:09, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(the above moved here from my talk) I assumed as much. That's why I suggested making a habit of looking out for an edit by CorenSearchBot in the history; it's usually but not always the second edit to the page. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:01, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to David Harris may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * [[[K. David Harris]], former American justice of supreme court in Iowa

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 22:09, 15 February 2015 (UTC) I changed it.
