Professional career

Marshall made his professional baseball debut as a member of the Pasadena, California team in the California Winter League during the 1907–08 season.[1] He signed with the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League in March 1908. During the team's spring training camp in Santa Barbara, California Marshall was the starting pitcher in an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox.[2] He made his regular season debut on June 16, 1908 in which he suffered a loss during an 11 inning game against the San Francisco Seals.[3] He requested a release from Beavers manager Walt McCredie on August 4, 1908 which was granted.[4]

He returned to the Pasadena California Winter League team played for them from October to November 1908.[5] In December 1908 Marshall joined the Imperial, California team in the same league.[6]
