Professional player naming conventions[edit]

I noticed that you've been creating a lot of articles about electronic sports players and renaming articles with the naming convention of "First name 'Pseudonym' Surname". As a Wikipedian of nearly nine years, I can tell you that this is a terrible naming convention that simply won't fly. You should go through all the articles you have created and move the pages to their proper legal names. If you don't, I'll take it upon myself to make the adjustments. I'm sorry, just that it doesn't work with how you're rolling. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 20:57, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

It's a very common journalistic standard, both competitive video games and other, so I don't understand how it's that terrible. I get that WP:STAGENAME discourages this convention, but it should be noted that a number of pages also use this convention, such as "Too Tall" Jones and "Weird Al" Yankovic.--Prisencolin (talk) 10:06, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Concur with Darth. See the last paragraph of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)#Nicknames, pen names, stage names, cognomens. There are some rare exceptions, but it is definitely not a format that should be used regularly. Jenks24 (talk) 11:31, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 is now in the books! Congrats to our finalists and winners, and to everyone who took part in this year's competition.

This year's results were an exact replica of last year's competition. For the second year in a row, the 2015 WikiCup champion is Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points). All of his points were earned for an impressive 253 featured pictures and their associated bonus points (5060 and 1695, respectively). His entries constituted scans of currency from all over the world and scans of medallions awarded to participants of the U.S. Space program. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came in second place; she earned by far the most bonus points (4082), for 4 featured articles, 15 good articles, and 147 DYKs, mostly about in her field of expertise, natural science. Belarus Cas Liber (submissions), a finalist every year since 2010, came in third, with 2379 points.

Our newcomer award, presented to the best-performing new competitor in the WikiCup, goes to United States Rationalobserver (submissions). Everyone should be very proud of the work they accomplished. We will announce our other award winners soon.

A full list of our award winners are:

We warmly invite all of you to sign up for next year's competition. Discussions and polls concerning potential rules changes are also open, and all are welcome to participate. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Speedy deletion nomination of Frankfurt Major 2015[edit]

Hello Prisencolin,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Frankfurt Major 2015 for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. WikiEditCrunch (talk) 18:31, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Frankfurt Major 2015[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Frankfurt Major 2015 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A link to the sandbox/draft page of them would be nice. Also, there is a new team in the scene (1 year old) called Team Secret. I did a draft for it here but it didn't pass. I am thinking about making an article for their famous and Ti-1 Winner Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov. There's a German article here and since I know German I could translate it. Dat GuyWiki (talk) 15:16, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
Team Secret should be notable enough for Wikipedia, that's for sure. I'm not really sure why the other editor told you that most of the sources weren't independent sources, when they are. However your draft does use Liquipedia, and because it's considered a wiki its probably not acceptable as a source. I'll see if I can find some more sourcea from a list of publictions I collectes at user:prisencolin/esportsnews. Also the article on Puppey should be notable should you can start on that if you want.--Prisencolin (talk) 17:14, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Denial eSports, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://cod.esportspedia.com/wiki/Denial_eSports.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Call Of Duty[edit]

Hey, seen you create the page for Attach (video gamer) and the wonderful work you have done so far with the eSports project and was wondering if you had these CoD players in mind who are also potential targets for an article Seth "Scump" Abner, Christopher "Parasite" Duarte, Douglas "Censor" Martin, Patrick "ACHES" Price , Will "BigTymeR" Johnson, Tyler "TeePee" Polchow? They're all more or less on the same level, maybe it might be worth checking out. This guy Raymond "Stallion83" Cox has a lot of news articles [3] so he might be notable enough too. I would do it myself but i am strapped for time and not so confident with knowing what notability is (like i think all One Direction members would've qualified but apparently not!) . Thanks again, GuzzyG (talk) 03:50, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Sure, I'll see if I can get this done eventually... In the mean time, if you want to create a draft of an article, or even just start a page yourself, you can go ahead an do that. Also, in case you're wondering about the the 1D members, I don't know anything about the article histories, but I suspect that there are a good number off WP editors who just don't like the subject and voted for rds just for that reason, but yet again I don't know.--Prisencolin (talk) 17:32, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Denial eSports[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Denial eSports requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://cod.esportspedia.com/wiki/Denial_eSports. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...[edit]

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. bds[edit]

Hi,

It is not obvious to me that bds fits into the category of WP:PRIMARYUSAGE. I started a discussion at Talk:BDS#.22bds.22.
