‘A Night at Sardi’s’ Closes With Jason Alexander, Eric McCormack, Steven Weber and a ‘Big Bang’

15 minutes ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

“Tonight we honor Peter Grad, who passed away suddenly last summer,” began David Hyde Pierce on Wednesday at the final “A Night at Sardi’s” benefit — founded by Laurie Burrows (daughter of playwright Abe Burrows) and her late husband Grad (an Mtm Television executive) 23 years prior, to support the Alzheimer’s Association. “His example as a charitable and loving man inspires us and lives with any of us who ever came in contact with him. Many of his jokes live with us too, and for that, we will never forgive him.”

What will also clearly live on is the “A Night at Sardi’s” legacy, evidenced by the loyal alum from Peter Gallagher to Jason Alexander to Eric McCormack — “No one had ever heard of me when this first began!” McCormack said — who returned to reenact their favorite numbers, which helped to generate $28 million over the 23 years, for the show »

Ratings: ABC’s ‘American Crime’ Edges Up With Finale on Low-Wattage Wednesday

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

With numerous repeats, specials and pre-emptions, there were few ratings fireworks on the first Wednesday following the post-sweeps, with CBS claiming the night’s top show in “Survivor” and NBC winning overall in demos with a repeat of “The Voice.” ABC’s “American Crime” wrapped its second season on a slight uptick, even though it was the network’s only original program of the night.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “American Crime” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) was up a tick in the demo to match its highest rating in seven weeks, while drawing its largest overall audience in five weeks. The acclaimed drama from John Ridley was never much of a ratings force in its two seasons, and it wasn’t among the 15 series recently renewed by the network. For his part, Ridley would be open to a third season but he also has another drama (“Presence”) up for consideration at ABC. »

Review: ‘House of Cards,’ The Complete Fourth Season for Binge Viewers (Spoilers)

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

By now, fans have had a week to binge their way through the fourth season of “House of Cards,” and based strictly on anecdotal evidence via social media, for many that’s become a sort-of ritual. So having now consumed all 13 episodes, here’s a complete, spoiler-laden review of a season characterized by its focus on the show’s central relationship as well as political flourishes that proved as intriguing as they were implausible.

In some respects, the season – which really amounted more to Season 4A, given where it ended, than a complete arc – addressed a longstanding complaint by giving President Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) an adversary worthy of him – namely, his steely wife, Claire (Robin Wright). It took an assassination attempt to bring the dynamic duo back together, but as Frank’s blessing of Claire’s affair made clear, their partnership has morphed into an entirely professional exercise, with »

But they will see Ford cars during a commercial break, when the car manufacturer unveils a promotion that lets “Legends” viewers explore three different “fan art” murals (pictured, above) over the course of the rest of the TV season.  Viewers will be prodded to go online, where they can see longer videos about the artwork and even get clues about the show’s storylines.
