I love the Litter Genie. It saves me a dozen trash bags a week, and makes the cat's bathroom smells better. The cartridge has good enough design, and the pull down bags are thick and great quality. It takes a minute to remove the litter filled bag, and install the new one.
The only complaint I have are the cartridges are a bit expensive. My cat is very active and produce a lot. So a genie cartridge definitely does not last two months. But that's not a flaw in the product itself. So I still give this a 5 star. Another thing I haven't figure out is when the bag would run out. I don't keep track, or I lost track all the time. So I do cheat by using regular 13 gallon bags in the Litter Genie. Using the garbage bags is a good way to save, and it's always well stocked at home (if not, grocery bags can be used though a bit short). But the garbage bags are much thinner, get caught in the divider sometimes, does not shield odor as well, and cost a few minutes to install. So I still purchase the refill cartridge from Amazon. Because I'm not sure when the included bag would run out, I keep the empty cartridge ring and use it with garbage bags when I run out of included bags.

Follow direction to install bag. Tie the bottom of the bag with a rubber band.
Here's how I use garbage bags:
Open up garbage bag. Install bag similar to original bag with the opening wrapped around the cartridge ring. Add a rubber band to secure garbage bag around the cartridge below the black top.
One thing I do pay special attention to is when I install/remove bags on the Genie, I always wear disposable gloves. I remove litter and replace bags every week, but don't wash the Genie every week. Because there's no way to avoid litter coming into contact with the pail, I always try to play safe.
