Symptoms

Redraw issues occur when displaying large, mostly graphics, windows. Refreshes do not occur correctly and the windows start to overlay old images. If a window is moved then shadows are left on the desktop. Window sizes get 'confused' and scroll bars appear when not required.

Hardware

Compaq XL560 and XL590 Pentium based machines fitted with Q-Vision 200 Graphics Cards (Does not occur on older machines with the Matrox cards):

   Q-Vision 200 Graphics Card

Problem

Despite Compaq insisting that the fault lay with our software (Key for Enterprise, formerly Application Development Workbench), we stuck by our 'device independent' guns and pointed out that there are similar problems under Windows 3.x and Windows '95. Compaq eventually agreed that it might be a driver fault (but only after the mutual customer threatened to return their hardware !), and shipped a new version from Houston - it resolved the problem

Procedure

Replace the Q-Vision driver. The driver is dated July 1995, but I don't have a version number

Notes

Compaq UK certainly have access to this driver, and I guess that others do as well. Do not be put off by flack about how it is the application software. One of the beauties of OS/2 is that it does give device independence and it is up to the drivers to operate correctly !
