Just wanted to let
you folks at Sybergen know how much I appreciate your fine software. I
have been using Sygate 2.0 for months now and have been completely satisfied.
After setting it up initially, I have never needed to adjust settings
or ever worry about its operation. The set -up went smoothly with your
wonderfully thought out instructions. This past week my server suffered
a system crash (with some help from my 14 yr. old son) so I took the opportunity
to install Sygate 3.0. WOW! This was easier than setting up a web browser!
ZERO CONFIGURATION. And I love the new security updates. Thank you for
all your hard work in making this product so simple, trouble free, and
so easy to recommend!

I posted this on delphi.com's sharkyextreme forum.
Wingate is a proxy,
not a router, therefore it it can not do things the way sygate can. (I
just looked at the wingate version 3.0 specs) Sygate has a DHCP option
which allows you to boot up any computer on the network and using win9x's
*built in* tcpip options, it will automatically configure itself to go
through the computer with the internet connection. There is no client
configuration required other than a correct install of tcpip.
A router will pass
ALL ip traffic, not just the traffic it can recognize like a proxy (ie
http/ftp/irc) For example, you can play quake through sygate with no configuration.
Not that you would want to unless you had a cable modem but.. My professional
opinion is that there is no reason to use wingate. Sygate is superior
to wingate in every way. Sygate is even cheaper than wingate on top of
the technical superiority. I use it for myself at home, and for multiple
clients who don't have leased lines. It rocks.
ps. A tip I found
is that even the "server" with sygate installed needs_no_ configuration.
If you boot with a clean tcpip install, win98 will automatically give
itself some ip address, which sygate will happily use. (you can verify
using winipcfg)

SyGate is JUST what
I am looking for. After weeks of downloading and demo-ing the likes of
WinProxy, MidPoint and WinGate, with little or no success, I have finally
found an inexpensive gateway that will support IBM Client Access. CA uses
several TCP ports simultaneously, and none of the other so called gateways
could be easily tailored to support it.
When I installed the
demo, it set up so easily that I said "No way this is going to work".
I was wrong. Sygate allowed me to do 5250 emulation to a remote AS400
on both my networked home PC's, completely painlessly. No doubt I will
be purchasing a 3 user license for home. And I will recommend SyGate to
anyone with a home network. Well done.

I was impressed that
Sygate's installation was so quick and easy, also that it only had to
be installed on one machine. I'm sure that there are some valuable reasons
for installing Wingate on all machines in a network, but I can't think
of what they may be. The only configuration I had to do was to tell the
software which of my two NIC's was connected to the internet. Again, the
product worked and worked the first time. Even though it was $10.00 more,
all I really had to do at this point was pull up the Mastercard, log in
and receive my authorization within hours.

I have tried at least
10 other proxy servers this weekend for my ISDN line. This was the easiest
and it actually worked.

I just wanted to drop you a note, I downloaded your evaluation copy of
SyGate, and was very impressed with it. I purchased a license for my home
network. I couldn't be happier with it. Installation and setup were a
snap, and it works very well. I have told friends about this, and I am
sure that I will be ordering another package for our computers at work.
It really is a sweet little package.
Now the kids can use
my modem and not tie up our voice line!!

I have a small network at home and one system has a FAST cable modem.
I was told that it was possible to share the connection but I had to do
a lot of research to find out how. I have used all sorts of sharing products
from proxy servers to I.share. Nothing is as good and simple to use as
Sygate. It is simple to setup and no configuration for each Internet based
application is needed. It was exactly what I had in mind when I set up
the network. Now we are years ahead of any analog modem and we save money
because we don't need separate internet accounts and we can share all
of the resources. Thanks for creating this great product!!

One of your cracker jack personnel just helped me get through an installation
problem that I created for Sygate 1.21. Unfortunately I took the example
"figuratively" not "literally", and substituted my cable modem TCP/IP
settings instead of the specified diagram settings. Quickly the problem
was detected and when I changed to the specified settings it was like
magic, it all worked (pinging names, web, etc) - very cool.
I changed things because I said it can't be that easy - But It Was !
was so impressed and elated I just sent in for a license. Thanks for a
great product, and more important being there when I needed you. ¡@

I just wanted to write
and tell you that SyGate is an awesome program. I have tried just about
every shareware proxy server on the market, and SyGate tops them all.
Currently I am using wingate pro 2.1d. Which is descent yet I am quite
tired of mapping UDP ports for every Quake2 server in exsistance. I saw
your product on a random web page and the guy was completely wild about
it. So I checked it out and I now understand why. Its so painless. Gamespy
3d works without a hitch allowing any game supported by it to work. ICQ,
Communicator 4.5, IE, and even Mercnet work flawlessly.

I am speechless. I have been looking for software to allow the machines
on my LAN at home to go through the machine that is connected to a cable
modem for the last 3 months. I like to play a lot of internet games and
just recently bought a P2 400 Mhz. I wanted to run my Pentium 133 Mhz
as a Web Server/Game Server/FTP Server and access the internet through
it as well. I had been trying to use WinGate with very little luck. It
was very hard to configure for the games and didn't really allow the client
to act as though it were directly connected to the Internet. You had to
assign different ports for different applications. It was very cumbersome
to setup. Last night I was following a message thread on WinGate and someone
mentioned your application. I downloaded it and tried it out. I am psyched!!
It was incredibly easy to set up!! Now my client machine can play Quake2
(w/gamespy), Starcraft, Unreal and I guess probably any internet game
as though it were directly connected to the internet! And the server can
jump on at the same time!! Way Cool! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
You guys should make a fortune. I will be recommending you to everyone
I know. And I know a lot of computer geeks :=)
Thanks SyberGen!!!

I've been using SyGate 1.1 (build 110) for 2 weeks now and it works great!
I run a small business from my home and the 3 user license is perfect.
In case you're interested, I'm running the following applications over
SyGate.
Internet Explorer 4
Outlook Express
AOL 3 for Win95 (better than before, AOL would not initialize Win95 dial-up
networking when using the TCP/IP connection, now SyGate does!)
RealPlayer 5 (which automatically configured itself)
WS_FTP LE
Norton LiveUpdate (I had to download a reg file to set in passive mode.)
Quarterdeck Update-It
Quicken Live
TEN entertainment network (although you cannot download files, does not
have
an option to set in passive mode)
In all, your product is great! It was very easy to set up and seems to
run very reliably. There couldn't be a better product for my situation.
Now I just wish I had cable access available in my area.

God Damn, it Works!!!!!
Thanks!!
You might want to put up a FAQ about setting Netscape and such up as not
needing to be in Proxy mode. I set Netscape to direct connection, as I
did ICQ, and they WORKED! WOW! It was almost too easy. And battleNet worked
in one try, no problems, even could join a game and the server could join
BN as well. I am putting up a note about this on Wingate's support board,
cause there are too many of us that have been trying to get this to work,
and it's a super pain with Wingate. With luck, they won't take it off
immediately.
