Metrobus passes

Metrobus passes are date-specific. They are valid during the dates indicated on the pass. Weekly passes are good from Sunday through Saturday.

Regional One Day Metrobus Pass $2.50

Valid for a full day of unlimited rides regionwide on regular routes. It's valid for $1.10 of the $2 fare on express routes.

NOTE: Regional One Day Bus Pass is already discounted. There is no additional senior citizen or disabled rider discount.

Metrobus Weekly Pass $10

Valid for a full week of unlimited travel regionwide on regular Metrobus routes. It's valid for $1.10 of the $2 fare on express routes.

Metrobus Weekly Disabled Pass $5

Valid for a full week of unlimited rides on all routes.

Metrobus Weekly Senior Pass $5

Valid for a full week of unlimited rides on all routes.

Metrobus 28-Day Pass $40

Valid for specific 28 consecutive days of unlimited travel on all regular Metrobus routes. It's valid for $1.10 of the $2 fare on express routes.

Metrobus 28-Day Express Pass $70

Valid for specific 28 consecutive days of unlimited rides on all Metrobus routes.

Metrobus/Metrorail passes

Metrobus/Metrorail passes are date-specific. They are valid for specific dates only. Weekly passes are good from Sunday to Saturday.

Weekly Bus/Rail Short Trip Pass $20

Valid for one week of unlimited rides on all Metrobus routes. It's valid for Metrorail trips costing up to $1.75 between 5:30-9:30 a.m. and 3-7 p.m. on weekdays. Valid for any rail trip at other times.

Weekly Bus/Rail Fast Pass $30

Valid for one week of unlimited rides on all Metrobus routes and Metrorail.

Metrorail passes

All Metrorail passes are gate-activated. The faregate activates the pass the first time it is used and prints the last valid date on the pass.

One Day Pass $5

Valid for one day of unlimited Metrorail travel on weekdays after 9:30 a.m. or all day on Saturdays, Sundays or federal holidays. Pass expires at midnight.

7-Day Short Trip Pass $17.50

Valid for seven consecutive days for Metrorail trips costing up to $1.75 between 5:30-9:30 a.m. and 3-7 p.m. on weekdays. Pass is valid for any rail trip at other times. If trip costs more than $1.75, you must use the Exitfare machine to pay additional fare. Pass will be returned for continued use during valid period.

7-Day Fast Pass $25

Valid for seven consecutive days of unlimited Metrorail travel.

28-Day Fast Pass $100

Valid for 28 consecutive days of unlimited Metrorail travel.

Other ways to pay

Metrochecks

Metrochecks are available in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $21 and $30. These exchangeable vouchers are accepted by more than 80 different transportation services--trains, buses and van pools--throughout the region. New federal tax laws allow employees to buy Metrochek--up to $65 per month--from their employer via a pre-tax payroll deduction. For more Metrochek facts, go to the Metrochek page.

Transit Link Cards

Transit Link Card (TLC) works like a monthly pass on MARC and VRE and gives you unlimited Metrorail rides for a full month. The TLC also covers up to $1.10 of Metrobus rides, and is valid wherever Metro runs in Virginia, Maryland or the District of Columbia. SmarTrip card

A permanent, rechargeable farecard that can hold up to $200 in Metrorail value. The card costs $5 and can be recharged like a farecard. For more information on SmarTrip, go to the SmarTrip page.

SmartStudent pass

A $20-a-month pass for students who live and go to school in Washington, D.C. The pass is good for unlimited rides on Metrobus and Metrorail for school or school-related events.
