Haven't been to most listed, but here are my feelings about a few:
 
The House -- big thumbs up. Much discussed below.
 
Temple -- went once and loved it. (Great short ribs, great oxtail.) Then kept hearing from others about the terrible service. L.A. magazine says the service has improved. To me this means it's time to go back.
 
Late-Nite Kitchen -- at the risk of trashing restaurants in my nabe again, I say no to this one. I've been three times and each time liked it less. Meatloaf is pretty good but I haven't enjoyed anything else I've tried. Even the vaunted chicken and dumplings. Salads seem wilty, food not fresh...
 
Chadwicks -- curious about this place, celeb name or no. Anybody been?
 
Also: surprised to see Cafe Blanc on the Food For Less list. If that's a fair categorization, I'll definitely be checking it out...
