G4 Standard Pack
Your G4 pack is constructed of very lightweight materials. One of the tradeoffs of designing with extremely lightweight materials is durability. The design and materials has been tested over thousands of trail miles. Your pack may give you years of service if you use it in the intended manner, and you take good care of it. The ripstop nylon is very susceptible to abrasion. If you put down the pack with the ripstop nylon on rocks, your pack will shred. Be aware that care is needed when you are placing your pack down. Pay attention when you are ducking under barbed wire fences and squeezing between rocks. If you do a lot of these activities, the G4 may not be the pack for you. Standard packs have both survived thousand-mile trips with little damage. They have also been severely damaged on a couple of weekend trips.
The G4 pack is not recommended for everyone. It was designed with very specific objectives, and for people who place a high value on lightening their load, and are willing to accept additional responsibility for care of their equipment, including replacement as it wears out.
For the reasons referenced above, your G4 pack is provided with a limited warranty. If you get your G4 pack and do not like the looks of it, you may return it unused within 30 days for a refund of your purchase price. You are welcome to load it up and try it out on the streets or trails around your house. Please do not take it on a trip, get it ‘used’ and dirty, and try to return it.
If your pack fails due to manufacturing (sewing) within 12 months, GVP Gear will repair your pack. You are responsible for the cost of mailing the pack back. If your pack fails due to limitations of the materials, then the pack is probably not suited to your style of backpacking, and no repairs will be made. You should consider either lightening your load, taking better care of your backpack, or buying a heavier, sturdier backpack.
G4 Semi-custom Pack
Since semi-custom packs are sewn to order, there are no returns of semi-custom packs. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. You may want to consider ordering a standard G4 first to see if it will work for you before spending the additional money for a semi-custom. Semi-custom packs are covered by the G4 warranty.
G5 Gossamer Pack
The G5 Gossamer is a specialty item of equipment. If you are unfamiliar with the G4, it is not recommended that you order a Gossamer. The Gossamer comes with NO WARRANTY. It is an extremely lightweight piece of gear, and requires exceptional levels of care. If it breaks, you will probably not be able to repair it because of the lightweight materials used in its construction.
Repairs
If your G4 pack is in need of repairs not covered by the limited warranty, you are welcome to mail it to GVP Gear for a repair quote. Contact us before mailing the pack, so we know it is coming. We will examine the pack, recommend repairs, and give you a price for those repairs. If you elect not to have the repairs done, your pack will be returned to you by U.S. Priority Mail. If you want insurance or additional postage services, please include additional funds when you ship the pack to us.
Waiver
Backpacking involves serious dangers or injury, death, impairment of one’s self or others, or damage or destruction of property. Buyer assumes all risk of loss and injury and warrants that he or she will defend, indemnify and hold seller harmless. Buyer represents that no reliance is made upon any act or conduct of the seller. Seller disclaims any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. Seller makes no other warranty, expressed or implied.
